Opening the second set is a medley of the Freedom Of Choice theme (an instrumental played starting in late 1979 and continuing until the end of this tour) with the unignorable hit Whip It.
Watching this I'm always impressed by the POWER of Mark and Jerry working together. This is what happens when you have two brilliant, HUGE ego musicians working TOGETHER, dedicated to the same ethic. So many bands break up because the two main song writers each want control. And the other 3 who stuck with it as long as they physically could. Can't blame Alan for giving up drums. And all with such different influences. I'm stealing some of this from Wiki, but Mark was classically trained, Jerry is a great rhythm and blues bassist, Alan set the standard for Rock/Prog/New Wave tribal beats (weird timings CAN be dance-able), Bob 1 with his Keith Richards riffs, and Bob 2 doing EVERYTHING as needed to back up each of them. History will remember these guys, when all their more popular contemporaries stole the limelight. As they say, the world was not ready for DEVO.
@opasgrandson And so they should bearing in mind they've been playing together for close on 40 years. Was lucky to be one of the choosers of the tracks for their latest LP.
@shane69999 Freedom of Choice buddy. Be like your ancestors or be different. It don't matter! If you WANT to know, there were choices to be made from 14 or 16 tunes. We were given 30 second sound-bites. Not everybody's choices were exact. Devo were and still are innovative....maybe a little more sensible but when you consider their ages and longevity I think that your statement is a little crass!!!!
The creativity that was allowed to run free during this time simply dazzles.
Those guys need extra energy to energize America's youth yesterday, today and on.into the distant future. Duty now for a successful future.

Have seen these gods 4 times in England and they are as tight as ever with or without the metronomic Alan!!!!
Love that it starts with the razor precision of Alan Myers.
A legend drummer.
Why did Alan leave the Band ?
@@bebe-bon9033 The band were leaning more into using drum machines around the time, which reduced his role in the band.
These guys freaked me out when they can out...and still freak me oit today...they are next level and before our time..musicly and theatricaly.
