Great video, and what a drive. I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing such wide roads with traffic travelling at any speed in any lane!

21:05 The view of the vast central valley always amazes me! I also noticed that you recorded this footage a week before the covid lockdowns happened, how lucky you must have been!

The world shut down a few days after I returned home. I was happy (and fortunate) to have taken this trip though

Great video, California expressways are always a blast to watch and the Grapevine is as amazing as ever.

These LA mountain freeways remind me a lot of the roads leading out of the Mexico Valley. But oh God, the traffic! It looks like a multi-lane conveyor belt where you constantly have to be changing lanes in order not to get stuck behind a slow-moving vehicle.

Driving in LA is really exhilarating in my opinion. The scenery definitely looks similar to areas of Mexico though as you say.

Highway 5 is more rural than Highway 99 in Central valley because Highway 99 have some small towns that you can sleep 😴 for a while and then they have big Gas stations for cars and 🚚

Grapevine scared the heck out of me as a OTR truck driver in training 1992 because I was told stories about how dangerous it could be. (I had no Jake brake and weighed 80K)
Enjoy your 📹 videos and thank you! 🙏

The Grapevine seems like it would be a challenging drive for a transport truck. Particularly the northbound descent into the valley

I've always wondered why CA SR 60 is not made an Interstate... It is certainly built to Interstate standards, being a divided limited access highway with at least three-lanes either way (outside of interchanges). Its adily traffic certainly would justify the designation. Perhaps it should follow the example of I-35 in Dallas-Forth Worth, and be paired with the parallel I-10 as I-10M and I-10S from Beaumont all the Way West to the Interchange with I-5 just Southeast of Downtown Los Angeles.

Always happy to have you back asphalt! Did you noticed the Chevy Corvette C3 at 2:21? It's definitely something that you don't see everyday!
I also didn't notice that you still had 2020 Footages from Los Angeles. I really like that series. An amazing way to start my day!

That sports car is a late '60s designed sports car if you're wondering what decade is it from. It lasted from 1967 to 1982. Good old times indeed.

That Corvette looks like a pretty cool car. I still have quite a few videos from 2020 yet to be released. Thanks for the comment.

19:05 About Tejon Pass, you exited Los Angeles County, CA and Greater Los Angeles and entered Kern County, CA that forms the entire Metropolitan Bakersfield, CA. Timestamp 19:12 is where you cross the county line.

I-5 is kinda like the PA Turnpike between Pittsburgh and Philly, and yea I-5 has scenery and I-95 just has cities and from NC-Florida it’s just countryside and Flatland, but yeah both have the worst traffic I guess!

Great drive! Did you know that Bronx River Parkway is maintained by Westchester County in addition to NYSDOT (New York State Department of Transportation) and it is unsigned as County Route 9987 in Westchester County? The rest of section where NYSDOT maintained it unsigned as NY 907H.

I didn't know that either. My preferred route home to the Bronx from temp job in Purchase back in 1985, even though it was out of the way but far more scenic than the NE Thruway or the Hutchinson River Pkwy.

The Grapevine is the best stretch of I-5 in Los Angeles County, CA. See how I-5 replaces US 99 in that part of California. It's literally my favorite stretch of I-5 in California.
0:12 Also, there is a map error that you highlighted I-10 instead of CA 60 while you drove on CA 60 to get to I-5.

I think California has most other US states beat on the scenery front, particularly in terms of the diversity of scenery and climates found within one state. You might not like their politics, but the scenery is gorgeous (at least outside of the big cities); you’re not going to find anything like it somewhere like Texas.
(Obviously CA beats every other state in population)
