    1)Q: Will you make me a tail?
    A: Yes I will. I have some up on my etsy: (www.etsy.com/shop/Zullala) and I am willing to make you a custom tail. I charge $3 an inch.
    2) Q: Can I use this method to make a MLP/horse tail?
    A: It might work ok for PinkyPie, but if ya'll want to make a horse tail, you should check out my video: • My Little Pony Tail Tu... (My Little Pony Tail Tutorial (Super Basic)) ^__^
    3) Q: Is it normal to have so much extra fluff left over in the brush?
    A: Yes, this is completely normal. You can use the extra fluff as stuffing.
    4) Q: What brand of yarn do you use?
    A: "I Love This Yarn" brand, specifically "520 Naturals Stripes I Love this Yarn!"
    5) Q: I can't get that brand, what else can I use?
    A: Yarns that are 100% Acrylic or 100% wool usually work out. Buy several different brands, make one knotted fluff with each brand, brush each knotted fluff out, then straiten it, and compare the knotted fluffs to see which is your favorite. Then exchange the yarns that you did not like for the yarn you did like.
    6) Q: Can I use Red Heart yarn?
    A: Yes, you can use it. I personally don't like it because I think the fibers stick together and it's not as soft as I Love This Yarn.
    7) Q: What color is the yarn used in the video?
    A: It's "520 Naturals Stripes I Love this Yarn!", but normally I don't pay attention to the names of the colors when I buy the yarn. I take a picture of a real tail with me and hold the picture up to the yarns and see if the color of the yarn is in the tail.
    8) Q: What weight and ply was the yarn you used?
    A: It was 7oz and I don't remember the ply.
    9) Q: Does the base have to be a 4 strand braid, can I used a 3 strand braid?
    A: Yes, it has to be a 4 strand braid so that there will be a place to put the elastic loop. Also, "Gilbert Beilschmidt" said he used an old T-shirt to make his 4 strand braid base. It's a good alternative to yarn.
    10) Q: How long is the tail?
    A: 29in long.
    11) Q: How long is the guide string?
    A: It is 6in long.
    12) Q: How many fluffs do you use?
    A: YOU DON'T COUNT THE FLUFFS. That would take forever haha. I used 1 skein of yarn for the base and 5 skeins for the fluffs.
    13) Q: How many skeins of yarn do you use to make your tail?
    A: 1 skein for the base and 5 skeins for the fluffs
    14) Q: If I make my tail X inches long and my base X inches wide, how much yarn will I need?
    A: I have no idea, I don't do math.
    15) Q: How can I make a cat tail?
    A: Make the base of the tail about the width of a half dollar and also make your fluffs shorter, maybe 1 or 2 inches long. That should yield a cat tail. For a more realistic effect make the end of your tail a little fluffier than the base.
    16) Q: How do you attach the tail?
    A: I just slip a belt through the elastic loop and belt it on. You can prolly also clip the tail to your costume, sew it on, or velcro it on. Use your imagination.
    17) Q: Can I use my hair hairbrush?
    A: A NORMAL BRUSH WILL NEVER WORK! Use a DOG BRUSH or CAT BRUSH. I suggest splurging for a the $5 dog brush because it has a button on it that helps you get the fluff out. It helps you from poking your fingers.
    The tail that I have made in the video is specifically a wolf tail. It's extra large and fluffy! SOOooo super cuddly :D!

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  Před 9 lety +5

      Well, I didn't use a scarf and I am ok, but I really suggest you use one because after I made the tail I coughed a lot and sneezed. Also the yarn fibers might get caught up in your appendix.

    I actually suggest making the base the same colour as the tail. You can brush out the tip and that solves the capping issue. Using the same colour also helps hide the loop at the top and if any fluffs fall out/get damaged it is less noticeable

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  Před 9 lety +23

      Suyi Kiyohara That's true, that will help the tip making process go by easier, but I don't want to waste my good yarn for the base. I just use the cheapest yarn for the inside since it doesn't effect the tail.

    Making my first tail... How did you ONLY take 40 hours? Mine has taken 2 months... T_T is there anything I'm doing wrong? I have to make 9 of these by next summer. At this rate I dont even think that will be enough time DX. Halp! I don't want to rush them and have them look bad :,(

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  Před 9 lety +20

      Kittyisk :3 are you actually timing yourself? I just worked at my tail everyday for like 6 hours straight. If you are only working on it for an hour a day then yeah, it's gunna take awhile. Just pop in some movies and create the tail while being distracted :D
      You can also use a looser yarn. Like, the yarn in my vid is pretty tight, so the next tail you make try and use loose yarn. That will speed up the brushing out process.

    • @ladykatieness
      @ladykatieness Před 9 lety +3

      Well I guess I'm not a fast worker as you. I've worked at least 6 days from 12pm to 2am non-stop to be honest but I AM self dying ever individual piece.Gave up on that devotion for that one tail and for the rest of the 2 months its been on and off. I hope I get better and get to be as fast as you. Your tails are gorgeous!!! I hope I can maybe not sacrifice quality either. You're really good at what you do. I really admire your work! :)

      +Zullala Thank you! I may have to take you up on that! Drowning in fuzzies!! ╚(•⌂•)╝At least I'm proud this method I created to making fox ears. I also found out that if you also douce your fuzzies in conditioner or detangler then dry, then straighten. Its even softer. I think this may be what has been taking so long. Also trying to put lots of wire on the inside so I can position the tail. Also dying each individual piece afterwards lol. But yeah... What's your website. I can send you a pictures if you'd like the give an estimate heh heh. If it isn't too much trouble I mean.

    everyone keeps saying a million fluffs, but if you could give me a number of fluffs you think you need plz tell me- not for a big tail you did, im doing a small wolf pup tail.

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  Před 7 lety +20

      I never count the fluffs. When i said a million I just meant that there was a lot. I didn't mean that there was literally a million fluffs. Again, I don't count the fluffs. I have no idea how many fluffs it takes to make a tail. It really doesn't matter.
      For a 12in tail I would think that one skein of yarn is enough. The amount of yarn will change depending on how thick you want your tail. I make my tails hella thick so I need to use more yarn.

    something I like to do when Ive sewn on the elastic is cut a slit in it so that I can have half of it on either side of the back middle belt loop when I wear my tails with my jeans, 1) keeps them from sliding to the side and 2) just otherwise keeps it secure while wearing it

    this is a great tutorial and I've been looking for one as detailed as this so thank you for making it owo. I do have a question thought
    when you did the looping between your toe and thumb did you have to do it four times to get the braid pieces or did you do it once then separate them into four? also if I make the tail longer will the braid be thiner?

    • @Zullala
      @Zullala  Před 10 lety +4

      I did it once. When you watch the video you can see that after I finished looping all the yarn I was left with one big oval of yarn. I then cut one end of that oval. Then I separate the yarn into four strands and begin to braid it. Also, yes if you make the tail longer the tail will be slightly thinner. Thank you, I am glad you found this tutorial helpful ^___^.

    I had some old yarn from a kit i got when I was young that was about 5x the thiclness of the fluff you used, that works really good just putting two strands together and tying them with string a couple times. if you halve a really long peice of this string it makes a loop, so you don't have to use so much.
