    Only in the Bay Area would Trader Joe’s be considered a “cheap” grocery store.

    I'm getting all my groceries myself, and I've only been ordering pizza & sushi deliveries, which is a treat for my family (trying to keep off fastfood, and doing a great job out of it - we only eat pizzas/sushi about once a month, sometimes even once in like 6 weeks, e.g. when we're fasting). I wouldn't say we're much affected in my home city of 1.2 mln people, so life seems almost normal here, except that everything is closed and I have to bear my husband sharing my home office, and my kids demanding even more attention with homeschooling 😬

    About 6 years ago at Safeway I got two 16 oz organic strawberries 2 for $4 with the Just 4 You. When I lived in the Bay Area I shopped mostly at Safeway and I sometimes Lucky. I used to work for Lucky/Save Mart. Here in Southern California I shop mostly at Ralphs especially since it's closest to me. They have great prices on organic products. Organic bananas at Ralphs are usually .69 per pound. I always do my shopping myself. I get frozen organic berries usually at Costo since I use them for smoothies.

  • @alexxmazin
    @alexxmazin Před 4 lety +1

    I do my shopping mostly at Whole Foods and fruit & vegetable shop next door. Both shops are moments away from home and I made friends with staff. These things definitely add to the experience. Last time I went shopping the social distancing was introduced and people did stand 2 metres away from each other and the queue was about 10 people long.
    I do understand the price tag at Whole Foods is higher than at other supermarkets in London but I highly value the quality and freshness of produce so I am happy to pay extra in order to get the best I can.

    There is a small Q to get into my nearest grocer in Bangalore (called Namdhari). We wear masks and maintain social distancing. Since it is a small grocery store, only 5 customers are allowed inside at a time. Fresh produce comes into the store twice a day, so there is no shortage of veggies and fruits where I live.

    Unrelated: Emily has her father's eyes :)
    Related: I MISS those times when we could go outside 😑 How easy it is to keep us all at home. 😒
    A minute of pessimism here: this situation only proves our insecurity and vulnerability before anything global. Even those less affected, still have to abide.
    A note of optimism: online businesses, such as mine, were only slightly affected, which almost makes zero difference (for the time being).

    Hi!, nice channel Marina :) my channel is about news and my robotics projects. I live in Peru and I remember that the first day they quarantined the toilet paper ran out, but then it was normalized lol. Regarding food, they sell it normally. The problem of quarantine is that it has harmed animal producers, since sales have decreased tremendously as there are no restaurants. I hope after the quarantine you can visit Peru, it is a beautiful country with ancient constructions of the Inca empire and its various pre-Inca cultures. I would guide you: P
