I like how Kash and Zahra actually look a lot like their players...and it makes me laugh how Scanlan's put down by Osysa is the one that resonates most with the youtubers.. I mean... it makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

In the campaign, they had already gone to Vassilhiem via a different means, so when they went back, Keyleth already knew a tree in the city.

13:18 If Viktor didn't show up somewhere we Critters would have rioted. 😃 I mean, there are only like 2 million of us scattered all over the world, so it would be more like a rash of minor disturbances - but, luckily Sam and Travis know us and didn't put us in that position. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

One of the things that really surprised me about this season is just how much the animators manage to top themselves. Going into season 2 I honestly figured the fall of Emon would be the pinnacle of the animation they'd show us. Man was I wrong. Some of the stuff in the later parts of the season just absolutely floored me on so many levels.

I love that they are taking full advantage of hindsight in order to foreshadow stuff they couldn't in the live game. Because in the live game they didn't know it was gonna happen. Vax and the Matron. Scanlan's personal stuff. Etc

There's something about the Sphinx being CGI whereas the rest of the characters and environment are 2D animated that is so evocative of cartoons from the early 2000s. It capture a very specific nostalgic feeling, I think.

This season is one of the most stunning seasons of television I've ever seen, and literally only gets better from here. They fixed every single issue I had with the first season and then cranked everything up to 11. GAH! So excited for y'all.

  • @DocEonChannel
    @DocEonChannel Před rokem +5

In the campaign I think they could get to Vasselheim safely because they'd been there before. Their first visit was via skyship, between the Kraghammer and Briarwood storylines. It's a little hazy, but I don't recall there being any issue with getting there after that.

    • @mayaenglish5424
      @mayaenglish5424 Před rokem +1

Yup, they took that sideways tree incident from a bit later when they went to spoilers:
Draconia, Which makes me sad because they might skip one of my favorite scenes ever, the "No Tail/ Long Tail" kerfuffel with the Ravenites.

  • @andresfelipemanjarres7061

This is what I love about this episode: In a DnD campaign it's very hard to know what a character's arc is going to be on a PC, because a lot of the changes depend on the players' decisions and the luck of the dice. What this show does masterfully (and especially this episode) is to adapt the story in a way where it can not only highlight iconic scenes from the campaign (like the Grog fight) but also increase Osysa's dialogue and add foreshadowing to the development of each. character.
That Osysa scene is a masterpiece of how to advance the story (heroes finding the information the where looking), wordlessly introduce lore to your world (establish the Sphinx as a being in this world with supernatural knowledge) and better yet establish development of your characters (Spoilers for those who have not seen the campaign: Vax having to leave his sister behind, Vex solving his daddy issues, Keyleth's fear of completing his Aramante and even worse losing his friends due to the longevity obtained with the charge, Etc...); All of this without counting the incredible animation, lighting, cinematography and in general the design of the scene that make every coin we gave for this series worth.

Sadly, we do not see the cow thing, but it is referenced again later in the season. 😂 Still can't get over Grog raging in that scenario so he can chew faster. Percy not being there leads to hilarity.

0:36 Hi Paula and Kat, I'm David, and hopefully 31 is old (and young) enough to be in the correct age bracket.
1:31 In the Campaign they had already been to vasselheim before, (when they delivered the Horn of Orcus they had picked up during the kraghammer arch) the iffy travel to a tree they did not know whas when they traveled to Draconia to take care of Vorugal.
1:45 "Of consecuences and Cows" was an episode wedged between the Banquet with the initial meeting with the Briarwoods and them travelling there. and it was Taliesin who was missing that day, Kinda hard to focus on the Briarwoods without Percy being at the table...
    3:15 poop, no, butts, yes!
    3:57 Yep, Bidet critters!!
7:02 didn't Groon have a necklace of big wodden beads? that's all that is missing, otherwise, Perfect!
    8:59 I agree!
9:56 knowing each ones storyline, this is so poignant! and really shows the sphinxs insight.
    10:01 Ouch!
    11:13 but he's not a warrior, he's a barbarian! 🤪
12:40 Yes, I squealed when Victor showed up, it made me so happy to see him.

06:15 The episode Cows and Consequences happened before the Briarwoods, when a certain sorcerer was still in the party - Scanlan references it later in this season of LoVM though

      15:00 Discussing the episode.
On Tabletop, Vasselheim was in two chunks - the section with the trials was prior to the Briarwoods, and was based on Vox Machina doing what the Twins are accused of here: Accidentally stealing a bounty.
I think for the short form story LoVM is using, a lot of these changes streamline things in a great way.

The art work just gets better (Episodes 4, 7 and 11 (midway 11, not the ending) stick out for me), and Episode 10 is the best of the series for action and pacing and just animators going bat-guano crazy.

Honestly, Keyleth`s fear hits me the most. Even if she succeeds, her Aramente can take so many years that she`ll outlive all her friends? This is unbelievably heartbreaking.
I wish they wouldn`t make the relationship with Kashaw and Zahra *that* antagonistic, I hope they`ll fix it later.
    Earthbreaker Groon is absolutely perfect.

Even worse... she's a Druid, when she eventually becomes an Archdruid she gains "Timeless Body" ie. she only ages 1 year for every 10 so she most definitely will outlive all of her friends as she could easily live 2-3 Thousand years...

Love that there is a CR Foundation which helps various charities. P.S. Have you done a review of the Marvel one-off Werewolf by Night? Just a little feedback.
One thing that made your season 1 reaction videos really fun was that the reaction was only to what was on screen because Kat wasn't familiar with Critical Role and Paula was great about not spoiling things with explanations.
That was just much more engaging than seeing you guys looking for plot points and discussing what happened in the stream the whole time.
Plus, as this season goes on there will be differences from the stream.
