This only removes Co2. It doesn't regulate climate, doesn't adsorb particulate materials, doesn't support biodiversity and ecosystems.
What we need are technologies which can support trees which do all the above said functions.

Your point is good but if we talk about use it is a lifesaver in cities which crowded like New Delhi or Manilla since it can to some extent clean the air of CO2 reducing some temperature and respiratory problems especially since cities like these don't have space for trees,so we gotta opt for the next best thing

And also this invention has a big problem, this invention need maintenance. The water pH need to be controlled and also it need extra nutrient in specific amount. Politician will be too lazy to maintenance those.

Yeah I think this would be great added to existing fountains and water features with some changes to the water conditions to make it work properly. But I don’t think placing these around in the place of trees would work long term. I can’t see how it would be effective either since that’s a lot of construction and maintenance for the equivalent of only one tree.

I had this exact idea I called it a bubble tree :) algae being used and everything :)
The only difference was my idea was shaped more like trees and used negative pressure to pull air in like a bubbler and would circulate the liquid through the branches.
Im so happy to see the concept actually work.
I knew I didn't have the technical knowledge or funding to actually run, test and provide the product.

How is it even better? It needs way more maintenance. Every month the amount of water with microalgae has to be changed almost entirely and the biomass has to be taken out. The only advantage is the space required.

I think it would work well if it’s designed to be part of a public bus stop with benches and shade while also adding trees. I don’t think it’s a good idea to use this to replace trees completely since trees have many other benefits other than replacing CO2. It should work in addition to trees not to replace trees. You would also have to consider the maintenance, how likely would people break this and the cost of making a piece this with all that glass and wood.
I completely agree with you bro. Trying to completely replace trees would not be sustainable. However, this indeed seems like a good invention. You could add it to rooftops, parks, bus stops etc Basically any outdoor seating area, that is if it is easy and cheap for wide scale implementation
