Dude, all you need to do is grab a small screwdriver, poke a hole in the center of the rival round, put one or two BB's in there, and boom. You got your very own, Nerf Rival Slug Round.
That’s what he did. He cut one open so he could make a template with the nail so he could get the BB in the center. If you don’t center them it won’t fly straight.

Why not just cut the ball in half apply contact or rubber cement then place the bb in the center before adding the other half of the ball. Foam cutter might make a better straight line as well.
I commend the effort and will try something similar for kicks. I'm hoping the new rival rounds are more accurate but you can get a decent accuracy improvement by sanding down that little mold line on the round. At standard rival velocities that little raised line is basically a sail.

I think part of the fun is the limited distance/accuracy. Maybe you should just consider upgrading to Airsoft instead???? (PS - I would spend a good chunk of time to build a jig that gives you repeatable accurate results to do what you are trying to accomplish quickly and easily, rather than spend a good chunk of time making them one at a time)
I have all the balls lined up in a channel, tube, or V-groove feed on a slight downhill (gravity fed) at the end I would have a drill press like device that lines up with the center of the ball, inserted into to chuck I would have a nail with a magnetic head (or magnetized with a magnet) at the end of the nail I would have a concave recess to hold a BB firmly in the centerline of the nail. I would set the depth of the drill press lever (set stop) so it stops exactly 1/2 through the Rival round. The process would be: 1) load up the V groove with rounds 2) place a BB onto the magnetized head of the nail that is in the drill press 3) plunge BB into ball with said drill press lever 4) push ball out of the way so the next ball can load via gravity. 5) repeat steps 1-4 Now go make a bunch, and upload a comparison video of regular rounds vs BB filled rounds... I want to see the difference.
I feel that this is the hard way.. the smarter and easier way is to use a drill bit that is a bit thinner than the diameter of the BB. Find the diameter of the round and mark the radius of the round and mark it on the drill bit. Use the drill bit and drill into the around until you get to the mark. Then just push the bb into the round. You can use the back of the drill bit to push in the bb.
No need to drill and remove foam. Even if its “a bit thinner” than the bb, it will work its way out over time. The foam is flexible enough that you only need a small hole from a nail to get it through, and the foam will seal itself more or less back shut.
I like it, except if I lose the ammo, I have to find them or make new ones, and I thinks that it is a bit inconvenient. Other than that, great video. 🎉

You have to make sure you get foam safe super glue otherwise it will sort of melt the foam, but I'm with you I'd use the proper super glue
