  • Sand leveling the lawn makes such a HUGE difference! We lawn tools have done our fair share of top dressing and leveling a lawn with sand. Our first sand leveling video has over 1.1 million views which has led to a LOT of questions from all of you. In this video, we try to answer all of the most frequently asked questions about how to level a lawn with sand. Fixing a bumpy lawn isn't exactly easy. Ordering sand and moving it all and spreading all the sand across the lawn can be hard work. But the end result of a beautiful lawn is SO worth it!

    I worked at a golf course and was the Superintendent of a local driving range. We used push brooms to get the sand into the canopy of the grass but you have to spread the sand, wait for it to dry, then broom it in by pushing the broom from one end to the other just like mowing. Not sweeping like your trying to get it up 😂.

      If you have irrigation I’d run it every morning around 4:30 for 20-40 minutes. And every other evening 15 minutes a zone. Depends on your sprinkler and how much water it puts out. it also depends on how much sun and how hot it is.

      @@TheLawnTools here’s a little bit of background. I live on 5 acres in the Phoenix area,…so I don’t have to worry about the extreme low temps. Our lawn has common Bermuda. We don’t overseed with Ryegrass. I just mow until it goes completely dormant, and then I’ll mow one more time during the winter so that it looks like a nice and well kept dormant lawn, if you know what I mean. My main point of doing it in the winter, is so that I can scalp and bag it, then aerate it, then level it so that it’s ready when the spring rolls around. If I don’t do it during that time period, it’ll make for a very long and tedious process,…as my grass grows pretty fast. I’ll keep in touch with how it goes.

    IS LEVELING/SMOOTHING-out the lawn, obtainable with a significantly sloped lawn?
    Hoping “the tools,” or anyone with experience in this field can help me out with this question…?
    My lawn, mostly in the front, has a gradual, but significant, slope that is designed to drain to the sides and front of our lot to accommodate for sufficient drainage.
    With that being said. My question is, will this affect the leveling process? And/or do y’all have any suggestions as to any “Dos/DONTs” while trying to obtain the best results or mostly smoothing out the low spots so I don’t keep leaving “scalp” marks.
    My ego mower is set as low as it can go (1”)
    Thank you so much in advance and absolutely love yalls videos!!!

    • @TheLawnTools
      @TheLawnTools  Před 3 lety

      It would work on a slope as long as it doesn’t rain for 2 weeks and you get to control the irrigation. But heavy washout still may take some sand out over time so it could be tough.

    A yard of sand is about 1 ton. A yard of feathers is not a ton.

    Why for all the size of the area you are levelling are you using a 3 foot spreader. Given the size of the area you should be using a 10 foot spreader. Don’t buy a spreader, MAKE ONE IT’S EASY!

    You spent all that money in material for the yard, and you don't buy the nice leveling tool that all the big Dawgs have. Come on bro. Nice video and info though. Thanks man.
