    If this thing was priced at $150-200, I would’ve bought it when I first saw an ad for it like a year ago. But at $300+, it got put into my “interesting gear” folder for the future. Unfortunately, at that price, it’s a mental battle as to whether to just spend a couple more hundreds to get a nice mixer.

    I can respect messy cables and accumulative dust in synth setups, but I can't do it! I'm a neat freak and your setup looks neat!
    Looking forward to seeing your new gear in vids.
    Hope you're well brother!

      Likewise! Always appreciate you watching - this switcher will probably live under my monitor for easy access but for the sake of this video I needed it visible haha

    I like this idea but i think the price point is a little high for what it does. Still a great simple idea.

      Yeah I hear that, I make some eurorack gear and when you’re not buying in mass quantity things tend to cost more, along with the amount of labor that goes into these things from a small company. People often say my NTS-1/NTS-2 kits are priced too high but the amount of time I spend soldering justifies it for me haha - I will say the quality is 100P on this switcher though! Appreciate you watching and comments 🤘

    But what if I wanna hear all my synths? And not choosing only one with the big knob.Thx

    • @matnetik
      @matnetik  Před 4 měsíci

      This is made for switching between different signals, no way to hear everything at once :/

      Then you need a mixer or a multi line/mic in audio interface.

      This is not designed for multi-tracking...

    well......I have always had an 8 input audio interface(at least) with an A/D optical-connection converter that has allowed me to run up to 8 midi synths in stereo effortlessly, or 6 leaving 2 for a vocals or guitars, I mean yeah, it´s a nice neat box, but anyone I´ve known with a set up using 2 or more MIDI controlled keyboards, uses an audio interface with at least 4x stereo inputs otherwise they would need to print audio for each synth in order to hear all the parts played back....correct? ....or am I missing something? Forgive me , I´m not "trolling", just a tad curious. After 30 years in production, and working in professional recording situations (DJ´s included) I´ve never seen a set up that used an audio device with 1 x stereo input for a DAW. However, it would be useful in a music store where customers could switch between synths to check sounds. Anyways...peace!

    Oh, I just use an audio interface that has 24 io. :)

      Which interface?

      @@martinlubitz3171 Sonic Core Scope Xite-1 with an Sonic Core A16 Ultra 24bit/96KHz DAC converter (which has the IO). Can hook up more IO as well.

    In theory could you run the signal from your euro rack setup back into a spare input pait on the SS-6? Then just record that by switching to that channel?

    • @matnetik
      @matnetik  Před 3 měsíci

      Thought about that but both DI outs are wired to the switcher - if the front 1/4" DI outs were a pass-thru that would work!

      @@matnetik thanks for letting me know! suppose I could run a line out from my interface and move signal from the DAW through effects and then back into the switcher...don't see why that wouldn't work!

    • @matnetik
      @matnetik  Před 3 měsíci

      That would absolutely work

    What’s the benefit of this versus a multichannel interface or mixer/interface like the tascam model 12?

    • @matnetik
      @matnetik  Před 4 měsíci

      Depends on how you want to record - with a multichannel mixer/interface you could have everything routed directly to your interface and just pick a specific channel for a specific synth. Given that this is passive, it would be great for a dawless setup or if you just want to run everything through two channels. It’s also great for a set up similar to mine where you want to process anything through a specific character module such as tubes, guitar pedals, or eurorack stuff and also have a clean output to bypass those effects

    I can't not be recording individual tracks in the daw

    • @matnetik
      @matnetik  Před 4 měsíci

      This switcher allows you switch between individual synths and send them to a stereo/mono output so you’d be recording one synth at a time. For my personal set up it’s a rare occasion that I need to record more than one synth at the same time, but everyone has their own workflow, a mixer or multichannel interface would be better suited for multitrack recording!

    Could you also run a guitar or bass into the switcher?

  • @RoyChartier
    @RoyChartier Před 4 měsíci +2

    Just buy a small format mixer.

    • @matnetik
      @matnetik  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I wanted something passive with multi out that wouldn’t color the tone with active pre-amps so this was a solid option! A small mixer would work similarly though 😎
