  • Thank you to Vevor for sponsoring today's video with the diesel heater as shown.
    The heater (s.vevor.com/bfQv11) seems to work really well, but would be MUCH better suited for any area that's got a much smaller square footage like a trailer, camper, shed, tent, overlanding activities, small building etc.
    The garage is just too big for it to heat up in any short amount of time.

    Next up for the track is getting power restored to the garage, and to continue fixing the building up! Thanks for watching today's video. If you'd like to check out the diesel heater, or tig welder check out the links in the description. Thanks!

      Mount the heater inside so you are reheating the existing air and not heating cold air and forcing out air from the building . Drill a hole run a pipe thru wall and slide exhaust thru it. Depending on your controller you can up the pulse rate and increase the btu's with passcode 1866. Instead of battery buy a 30 amp power(does not need 30 amp but the smaller ones are junk and have no cooling fan) supply for $20 and wire up so you don't need a battery. I also remove the end cap on the heater and use a hose clamp instead to increase air flow .

      If you ever roll the walls again just do everything in wall epoxy. Most of the big paint brands have a product available that’s not much more than a decent paint. You can literally pressure wash your walls after if you want and very oil/grease resistant.

    I've been watching you since you first bought the track somehow CZcams and what watch put us together. You have no reason to apologize for what you're doing if you start to get pulled down by detail work on something that large you get nowhere. You have a real job and a family it's quite amazing how much time and hard work you put into the place it all looks so good. Thanks for another video hope to stop by there sometime I do get up north I'm down in Central Florida and I keep watching.

    Nice work.
    I like how you’ve approached this racetrack as-what can you do to make a difference with each step?
    Making it better incrementally rather than waiting for a day when you can do it all at once.
    Because that day rarely comes.
    Mean while you have satisfaction and enjoyment of each accomplishment

    • @Greenlightfilming
      @Greenlightfilming  Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's exactly how I've been approaching everything. Do what's realistic, as time and money allow. If you sit around and wait for a windfall of "money", you're going to be sitting empty handed for a very long time.
      I'd rather make due with what we've got for now than wait for the planets to align and everything to be absolutely perfect.

    I have an Eberspacher 12v Diesel heater in my van.
    Some items to be aware of if the instructions were not good:
    1). The Exhaust and pipe gets very hot
    2) mine says 2 meters max length for exhaust.
    3) angle all exhaust down so condensation can run out.
    4) direct exhaust Away from both combustion air inlet AND heater supply inlet so that you’re not blowing fumes into the heater or heated space.
    5). The heated air can reach 180f so keep combustibles far enough away. Did it melt the tarp?
    6). The first run cycle will take multiple starts to prime properly. No idea why they include so much hose unless they want you to be able to remote mount the fuel tank?
    7) the fuel pump must be at an approximate 30 degree angle and close to fuel tank because it is most efficient pushing not pulling fuel.
    8) if you often run at low speeds in warmer fall temps in a small building you’ll want to let her rip for 20 minutes on high output regularly so that the soot doesn’t build up.

    I like that diesel heater. I use something similar but its one of those bigger torpedo style ones. It puts out a ton of heat but you need to figure out how to vent the garage cuz it just shoots all the combustion out with the heat

  • @kurtzxcvb3481
    @kurtzxcvb3481 Před 5 měsíci +2

    The way you have it installed you're sucking in the cold air and heating it You're supposed to be recirculating the air The units supposed to be inside and exhausting the intake and exhaust and then recirculating the hot air otherwise you're heating the cold air from outside

    • @Greenlightfilming
      @Greenlightfilming  Před 5 měsíci

      A few folks have chimed in saying the same thing, which makes sense after some review.
      The exhaust pipe I had for this unit had a few pinholes and didn't seem to make the most positive seal on the bottom of the unit.
      Exhausting diesel into the garage seemed like a dumb idea? I digress lol.
      I need a new exhaust pipe and bulkhead for a wall opening/window.

  • @Cloxxki

    A really long exhaust pipe running through the interior could extract every Joule of heat. I've seen that done with woodstoves. Sometimes with a fan on the exhaust system to pull the gasses through the whole way properly.
    I guess you want the gasses dumped outside to be at room temperature or so.

    • @Cloxxki
      @Cloxxki Před 5 měsíci

      To add: to get every joule of heat, the unit would need to be indoors itself of course, as it will probably be above room temperature itself? But then you deal with the noise as well, and the fuel, etc. At least it's diesel which doesn't ignote easily at all.

    • @Greenlightfilming
      @Greenlightfilming  Před 5 měsíci

      I could see that being a way to extract more heat like you're saying. If I recall, the manual did mention not having the exhaust pipe length run over like 1 meter? I'm not sure why that is.

    • @minibikemaniac
      @minibikemaniac Před 5 měsíci

      @@Greenlightfilming That heater is designed to be indoors. The combustion intake and exhaust are meant to be run to the outdoors. The heater has a return opening that is meant to bring inside air into the heater and heat it. It works just like a home furnace. As the heater draws in the room air, say it is 25 degrees to start, the heater may raise the return air temperature by 20 degrees so you will have 45 degree air coming out the supply. Gradually the air inside is warmed up and now you have 45 degree air drawing into the heater and it raises it 20 degrees so now it has 65 degree air coming out the supply. That continues until the space is heated to the desired temperature. By having the heater outside of the space you are always bringing cold 25 degree air into the heater to try to heat the space.

    • @michaeltemple8333
      @michaeltemple8333 Před 5 měsíci

      Can’t run a longer exhaust pipe as it would smother the engine due to poor exhaust flow. With it drawing in cold air and heating it, you are running a system that leaks heated air out of the enclosed space. The delta from outdoor air to the output would be better if the entire unit was inside so that the air it takes in to heat would be warmer as the room starts to heat, giving a higher output temp.

    You need to point the exhaust away from the heater.
    You have it pointed right where the air inlet is on the back of the heater.
    It will suck in exhaust fumes and blow them into the garage.
    And there are plenty of videos on how to mount them.
    Personally I hate the all in one units.
