Man, after replaying the games, I just realised that John technically isn't even a priest anymore. The dude got excommunicated after Faith 1... he's basically doing a hard cope cosplay, but he's still struggling forward for Amy, Micheal, Lisa, and Allred. Also that his wife Karen left him and likely took his stuff. Dude can't catch a break.

Whenever there`s a story that includes a priest, it would usually be manipulative to people through faith or the opposite. but in john is exceedingly different from those type of characters.
I see many people saying that cross represents weakening of john's faith while it can be other way around too, his faith is getting so strong that just two sticks/copper sticks/whatever is what he has in chapter 3 can protect him, with every chapter he gets closer to defeating great evil and in the final battle of good ending, his faith is so strong it lets him endure 10 atacks before getting killed, only flaw is that after finally helping amy his cross comes back to gold, but I see it as his faith getting even stronger - his faith is so strong the material his cross is made out of starts to glow golden color, and for me the theory his faith is getting weaker has one very big flaw, if brown cross means weak faith, why does father garcia, way more experienced person has brown cross? His faith can't be weak when at the end of ok ending he decides to declare war on the unspeakable, if he believes he can win why would his faith be weak?

a cool lil feature i noticed abt faith is that johns cross goes from gold to silver to wood which shows that he's losing faith, but if u get the good ending, in that final scene where john says amen, you can see the cross is gold again. i think that getting the closure he needed, that amy forgave him and she is free now and has been exorcised and can't be hurt anymore, restored his faith, because his faith only truly died out because amy was nagging at the back of his mind, wearing out his faith and once he finally finishes what he started, there is this moment of "after all, god truly does exist", esp after he finally gets the ending he wanted for so long

the original true ending of faith brought me to tears, and this simply made those tears flow right back out, faith is a game that knows how to make something good, and airdorf picked the right team to help him. (New Blood), john's faith waivering while getting stronger to survive the encounters, the nightmare of chapter 2 only serving to strengthening him as he continues to downgrade his cross, for he doesn't need gold to amplify his faith to banish them, and at the end, his original gold cross can come out, to finally finish what he started, that exorcism, on that fateful day. Amen.

Another reason is Acacia wood could be a warning that his faith in god is at a breaking point you can see crucifix change color to yellow at the start gold white in chapter 2 silver and a mysterious wood like color that 50% resembles Acacia wood (probly) so since in chapter 3 his faith in god was very weak the crucifix changed into a very weak form hence i think the chapter 3 crucifix is made of weak Acacia wood
He may have not been able to save her body but he did save her soul. He freed her from the grips of demonic possession and while her body was no longer able to sustain life (literally being a pile of bones) I would assume her soul is now free and she will end up in Heaven instead of right back with the demons in hell.
FAITH: The Unholy Trinity is a prime example that a horror game doesnt need good graphics to be a terrifying game, you just need Faith in it

a cool lil feature i noticed abt faith is that johns cross goes from gold to silver to wood which shows that he's losing faith, but if u get the good ending, in that final scene where john says amen, you can see the cross is gold again. i think that getting the closure he needed, that amy forgave him and she is free now and has been exorcised and can't be hurt anymore, restored his faith, because his faith only truly died out because amy was nagging at the back of his mind, wearing out his faith and once he finally finishes what he started, there is this moment of "after all, god truly does exist", esp after he finally gets the ending he wanted for so long

I've been listening to this song multiple times and on loop for most of my weekend. This song feels kinda sad, but also sounds soo good bruh. This is frickin jammin.
the original true ending of faith brought me to tears, and this simply made those tears flow right back out, faith is a game that knows how to make something good, and airdorf picked the right team to help him. (New Blood), john's faith waivering while getting stronger to survive the encounters, the nightmare of chapter 2 only serving to strengthening him as he continues to downgrade his cross, for he doesn't need gold to amplify his faith to banish them, and at the end, his original gold cross can come out, to finally finish what he started, that exorcism, on that fateful day.

@@revtillian Acacia wood is weak so i picked that one cuz possibly his crucifix (the cross) is getting weaker every time we die in the game or its color bronze (copper)
Another reason is Acacia wood could be a warning that his faith in god is at a breaking point you can see crucifix change color to yellow at the start gold white in chapter 2 silver and a mysterious wood like color that 50% resembles Acacia wood (probly) so since in chapter 3 his faith in god was very weak the crucifix changed into a very weak form hence i think the chapter 3 crucifix is made of weak Acacia wood
He may have not been able to save her body but he did save her soul. He freed her from the grips of demonic possession and while her body was no longer able to sustain life (literally being a pile of bones) I would assume her soul is now free and she will end up in Heaven instead of right back with the demons in hell.
