More than half the Concacaf teams rank higher than 100 in the FIFA ranking, some even 200, so there is no real competition between them and that's why Mexico and USA stand out in that confederation but then fall flat when they have to face teams from outside. In fact, this will be Mexico's first Copa America since their humiliating 7-0 loss to Chile the last time they played there. Conmebol is so much more competitive that every country except for two has won the Copa America at least once and even the continent's worst team, Bolivia, ranks lower than 100 so there is no such thing as a South American San Marino or Virgin Islands for Conmebol teams to inflate their numbers.

Maybe they could win to Bolivia but I am not sure they would even be able to do that. And the mexican league level is a joke, even the MLS is being more relevant than the mexican league now. Check out the History of México in the World Cups and all the Copas Américas they played. They were not able to play well even once in either of those competitions. They have not been able to compete in a long time. In Copa América the 7-0 and also before they lost too. In World Cups they have never able to qualify to semifinals. In Copa Libertadores they played many times against South Americans teams and they always loose.
