Hi,
Most of the cool features you have shown in the last 3 videos are for the MG HS essense Phev. What about for the MGHS Excite Phev ? Some of the features work but if you have the excite which we purchased as we didnt want a sunnroof and pay the extra $4,000 for the essense. Could you do a video for the MGHS excite phev as well.

I got my Trophy 3 weeks ago & I've never had a modern car (been winding my windows up manually for 30 years 😂) & it's a LOT to go from cassette deck to computer screen & MG Pilot lol. I find going through the manual a bit of a slog because it's not exactly written to be clearly instructional. I use your videos, it's so much easier to learn.

Nice video and a nice car. I am using the 2021 model and I feel some stiffness in the steering wheel when maneuvering , Any idea of why or any settings or suggestion to correct it?

Absolutely invaluable information! Thanks so much Jerry. MG need to educate all their sales ppl to be like you. I was told by the salesman Never to close the tailgate manually! Crazy! He has no idea of the features on the vehicle he is selling! 🤦🏻♂️
I was wondering if you know why the Bluetooth connection turns itself off, meaning, I put Bluetooth on, but sometimes when I start the car, I find it has gone off, so I need to go into the Home Screen & turn it back on. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for your comment. Glad this video is helpful. The Bluetooth could be potentially solved by a software update or system reset from your MG dealer. If it is connected, it shouldn't switch off itself.
My dealer in Australia was terrible. I test drove a different car to the one I was buying bc it wasn't in stock, but it was a 1.5T. I asked if mine would have the good seats & he said yes. I picked up my car & it has concrete seats that are a bit too small for me to sit comfortably. I had to buy a cushion so I don't have a concrete seat wing on my sciatic nerve 😠
A few more things happened but how can they exclusively sell one brand of car and not know almuch about them? Dreadful.
@@aussiejubes Australia here too 😊 have to agree with you, the salesman knew jackshit about the car, made so many stupid comments, it was laughable. I certainly hope you done have the issues we have. We haven’t taken it in yet for the first service, due in December. I made a list of all the issues & some are unbelievable for a new car.
@@typhoonfpv my salesman literally ran away from me when I tested the first car. He was always in a hurry to be not near me at all & although I thought that was weird & unhelpful I figured it meant he wasn't badgering me. I upgraded the car I wanted three times(!!!) & if he'd have known about the bloody seats I would have upgraded again, but at no point did he just try to get me in a car that would meet my needs lol. I kept test driving and & asking why he was putting me in gutless cars with awkies seats. Like...imagine if he'd tried, I might have walked out with the most expensive one on the lot lol.
I've been wondering if there's an MG club. I'd like to join so I can get hip to the problems they have. Thankfully I haven't had any problems other than Android auto play didn't work, but I figured immediately I'd buy a better cable & that fixed it.
What have your issues been?
@@aussiejubes Firstly, yes, we have an MG CZcams club. Search for MG Owners AU. You can read through the issues many MG owners are experiencing. I must say, some were not issues, some were actual features 😂 like the tailgate not closing if you leave it open for more than 10 min or so, which Jerry explained here.
Some of my major issues are: side mirrors won’t fold when locking the car. Tailgate won’t lock. Tailgate stops halfway when opening or closing it. Remote won’t open the car! Car won’t start! Yes, foot was on the brake! Lane keeping or lane departure assist goes off & on randomly, I was doing 100k on the freeway, the system kept blinging with the msg, lane keeping disengaging, 5 seconds later, it comes back on. Kept doing this for a good 3 minutes, drove me nuts so I just turned it off! All these issues are intermittent, happens randomly. I believe it needs a software update just like Jerry said in his reply.

Another great video. Hi Jerry, I’ve gone crazy over MG. I just bought a second hand MG HS PHEV 2022 model +ev. Pitty I couldn’t buy them from you as I’m in Australia. Can you tell me how do I adjust the regenerative breaking as it not as strong as I thought it would be. Do you have a video on this adjustment? Thanks Anthony
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately there is no adjustment for regen breaking. It is only 1 level.

Yes, there is a button on the centre console.
Hello, I have looked at the radio and I do not see the RDS system, I do not see the name of the radio station, in my MG it is not seen either and they have installed an external module for the DAB system. Why doesn't it have RDS or TA? THANK YOU.
Thanks for that ! We have owned ours for 9 months now and only now realized that the tailgate disengages if left open for too long. Perhaps the only tip I would share is how to reset the infotainment system by pressing the home button for 30 seconds until it reboots .

Hi Mason, for NZ / AU version the radio won't display station name.
This is brilliant. Don’t know how you figured it out, even their sales people don’t tell you about this. Anyways, I am from India (this model is called as Astor over here) & I wish this first Color was available here too. I really like the colourful cars, black, silver, red or white looks too dull to me. Also on this right wheel drive car, where do you have those indicator control on steering wheel? Here they put it on left hand side which is really annoying when most of the people are righty/right handed people. Is there any reason behind this change/uniqueness, all other cars except two or three have them on right side of the steering wheel.

We have the same indicator on the left and the wiper on the right. Most Chinese cars have this setup.
MG Astor is not an HS, it's a rebranded MG ZS
HS is much bigger and has different looks
Hey Jerry, great videos mate! I’ve seen videos of the HS where a driver’s welcome/puddle light with a red MG logo is projected onto the ground when the car is unlocked. Is this an overseas only feature or do any of our NZ models have this?
The excite and Essence specs have that feature.
@@JerryPanandCars really?!? Have you shown this somewhere in your videos and I’ve missed it? I can’t find anything anywhere about it and it looks like such a cool little touch that I’m surprised it isn’t in every demo/walkthrough video on YT!
@@johnpdoran78 some of these are available aftermarket if the car is equipped for puddle lights already.

Hi Jerry, great information for us new owners. (2022 hs excite ) I do have one question you may be able to answer for me. The tyre pressure monitoring system reads in bars, this means nothing to me at a glance. The dealer informed me it cannot be changed to psi. Is this true? Cheers Ron
Yes, not much they can do. You can easily convert that using google though.
One bar is atmospheric pressure about 14 psi, two bar is 28 psi etc.
Beautiful car but I’ve two issues… These days the screens are integrated into the dash and not stuck on top… The Hyundai Tucson have it perfect… The second issue is the distance from screen to buttons below… a huge distraction when driving!…

So you have the manual tailgate. That's normal.

I am hoping you could show where the QR code hides in the PHEV HS Essence 2022 AU. all videos I have watched shows a different screen to mine. I can’t bind the car and it is frustrating me.

Sorry to hear that. It should automatically be on if you lock the car. I don't remember there is any switch to turn it off.
Are any of these features available on the MG ZS EV?

I purchased my MG HS 2023 from an official car dealer in Türkiye. I have a question about the blind spot detection (BSD) and monitor system of the car. I have read the user manual about it. I think that the car only gives a light warning/alert while another car (or a motorbike) is approaching from the rear right or left position of the car. Although useful, this warning/alert option is not very effective while driving the car on a clear sunny day (especially in Türkiye). Is there any hidden feature of the car that the BSD can both sound and light warning/alert (while driving the car for a speed greater than 15 km/h)? (I know that the door open warning (DOW) option of the car (while it is immobile) can give both sound and light alerts).

Unfortunately most of these features are not available on the MG ZST. The ZST and HS have quite a different system and setup. I will do a hidden feature video on the MG ZST in the future.

Have to compare EV against EV. BYD Atto3 is to MG ZS EV. Both have their advantages and disadvantages honestly. We have BYD available under the Ebbett Group. I will go and do a video about BYD Atto3 next month.

NZ and Australia spec is called Essence. Essence spec comes with sunroof.

That might be different specs from region to region. This is NZ and AU spec.

Not sure about that. Our version doesn't give voice over speed limit.

Had my MG HS excited for just over a month. While it looks like a decent car there are problems. Fuel consumption is terrible, I got 215 miles from a full tank costing £65 that is terrible and for only a 1500 engine is difficult to justify. Mine has an automatic gearbox and is very poor at slow speeds, very jumpy and does not drive smoothly, especially at first start. I have turned off the auto handbrake as it seems to confuse the car when this is on and stop/start is activated. All in all, I really regret buying this car.
