I've seen the movie hundreds of times, and played the game on my Commodore 64 absolutely ENDLESSLY. This song is a part of my DNA now. And this was an AWESOME rendition. I'm NEVER funky, ever, but I could funk out to this. This is transformative.

For all of those that are possibly thinking about quitting bass because of how good Charles, just remember that this is his job. He is literally paid to practice his scales. Most of us have more pressing priorities like work and school, but this is his number one. Don’t worry about not making quick progress or being able to two hand tap, if you had the opportunity to practice 30 hours a day like Charles, you would be God tier too!
Maybe... there's a whole lot more behind these abilities. 🙂
Charles’ genius lies in his hard work, not just his talent. We all could have worked out asses off when we were teens or in our early 20s… but news flash… we didn’t. He did.
As someone who used to be a very good pianist (because I put in a lot of work), and is now merely an average pianist because I have not practiced properly in years, this is 100% correct. Musical talent is important, but hard work is the only thing that will ever get you to Charles level unless you're a prodigy.
Why do people quit because they see someone better than them that doesn’t really make too much sense to me if anything seeing someone better than you is inspiring like “I WANNA BE AS GOOD AS THIS GUY” that’s the main reason I watch Charles at least cus he makes me want to get better at bass
I think there's people out there that would make me want to quit, but Charles isn't one of those people. He has a different kind of presence that brings you in, not draws you away. Even if I can never play like him, even just to try and play a little better than terrible like him is still a win, cos his technique repotoire is just unmatched. Anyone's going to come away with something from him, no matter what.

Another slapfest! As a young bassist in the late 70's, the decade of the bass, I used to fight with my brother and cousin (the guitarist) to let me take some leads. I always envisioned something like this. When Waymon Tisdale (God rest his soul) came along, it was kind of what I was thinking of. Now you have truly done it. Great stuff on the bass, but you have a long ways to go to match Lee Sklar's beard.
Excellent video Charles! One small tip, maybe include a flashing lights disclaimer if you'll be using a strobe in case anyone living with epilepsy is watching.
