  • An incredible part of the world to film. It was a fairly quiet weekend in terms of freight train movements up and down the mountains which I knew about but this was the only free time I had to travel up there. Still plenty of great trains around. Started the video at the upper end of the mountains and unintentionally finished it at Goulburn in the Southern Highlands on my way home. Hope you enjoy the video!

Yeah nice video! If you are far away from the Blue Mountains it’s Blue and if you get close-up it’s Green.

My old stomping ground, used to live at Mount Piddington. The Blackberries at Tarana are the best on the western line, big and sweet, pity JHCRN sprayed most of them in 2019. Tarana signal box worth a look inside, was restored in 2019. I wouldn't called Marrangaroo a "suburb" of Sydney, a suburb of Lithgow if any. Goulburn would have to be one of the cleanest and well kept NSW TrainLink stations, always well presented, credit to the staff there. Great tour...

Marrangaroo is a suburb of Lithgow yes I figured that goes without saying, but I wrote that it is the first unwired suburb out of Sydney on the BMT line referring to the electrification that ends at Lithgow.. I wish i’d of known about the signal box at Tarana that would of been great to see!

    Cool video.
Not being familiar with the area I was surprised by the altitude. Over 1100m in a little over 100km making the an average gradient of around 1:100 for the entire length, hard work for the locomotives.
Are you getting the train info from timetables or a tracking website? I haven't been able to find either online. Covid allowing we are planning to do the Ghan next year northbound and drive back, hopefully with some trainspotting on the way.
    High from NZ,
    Anthony.

Hello! Thanks, yes its a decent climb but these trains handle it well. I do not have any tracking apps just local knowledge and friends that work for these companies! The Ghan would be an awesome experience however only the Indian Pacific goes via the Blue Mountains line, the aussie countryside is still awesome trainspotting regardless of where you go! Thanks for your comment!

Yes mate apologies for that, I try to use non invasive text that can be displayed without interrupting the video but will look into bigger font. Thanks for the feedback..
