Do they have an outside area? I enjoy watching them play and take care of each other. Chimps are well known for quick outbursts.

Wow the male chimp in the adjacent cage was really, really agitated by this fight!! I wonder which side of the fight he would align with and why? Interesting that the female in the adjacent cell got as far away from the male as she could when he started flipping out. Chimps are absolutely vicious when they attack or fight. I can never understand having one as a pet for that reason. It’s a not a question if but when they will turn on you. What do you expect they are WILD animals.

The female stayed away precisely because she had no idea who he might attack, including her. You're right. The huge males are liable to freak out, just as a human 5 year old would, over just about anything. The problem is that they can rip our faces off in about 30 seconds.

Terrible cage
I can't agree on that - japanese zoos are the very best, they all have outside areas and excellent enrichement programs - they take very good care of animals, primates in particular. These animals could not survive in cold weather such as in most part of Japan, that's why they have these kind of winter housing.
@@pierlombardini8705 sure thing. their excellent program made gorillas go from 35 in 1999 to 20 today and half of them are above 40 years old.
