    I'm a water skier and not a jet boater but I have a suggestion as I have been around and worked on boats all my life. A problem with jet boats in racing is actually the intake. When the hull is plaining very fast the water pickup is sometimes too high at the rear stopping enough water entering the motor and so the water gets hotter in the motor and setting of your sensor. Finnigan had a similar problem with his jet boat and was able to repair it by adjusting the water intake. Don't look at the exhaust or restrict the water flow. When marine motors are revving they need a lot of motor pushing through them and any restriction will not fix the problem. I hope this may help. KR

    Taylor, I’m an old school boater, wood boats and my 16’ Checkmate boat had a air scoop facing forward to grab air as the craft moved forward, and another facing in the rear for air/ heat to escape. I did not notice a forward facing scoop. My thinking is the ambient air temperature inside the engine compartment rises enough to set the heat sensor off. To prove this, ride with your deck cover slightly open, use a block of wood, and something to hold the engine cover from opening while running top speed. This may be the trick. Let us know in the next video.

If you fell out I think the boat would keep going leaving you stranded! IDK really if it's necessary but I think it's a good safety feature to think about. Other then that she's a ripper for sure!!

  • @LightningFabrication
    @LightningFabrication Před 3 měsíci +4

    Taylor,
    I might have an idea for the exhaust. I think you're onto something when you mention steam, but I really don't think it's overheating. When you are moving at a slow speed water is building up in the muffler keeping the sensor cool. When you are running the boat hard, the same amount or a little bit more water is going into the muffler but a whole lot more exhaust and a lot hotter exhaust gas is going into the muffler. The exhaust gas is doing 2 things at high rpm. it's super heating the water and atomizing it since the exhaust is flowing through so fast. You improved the time it takes to set off the overheat warning by installing restrictors in the hoses but it wasn't enough to keep the sensor cool at wide open running. That baffle might have been installed to slow the flow of water through the muffler or keep the sensor in liquid. It's just a thought. Maybe relocating the sensor to a spot where it would be in a stream of water? Another thing you could try is, removing the sensor using an ohm meter and a thermometer heat up a pot of water, put the sensor in and read what temp the sensor closes. Is there a engine temp gauge? Is it reading hot when the warning goes off? Could you just eliminate the muffler all together? How about installing an exhaust pyrometer? I'm looking at some and their temp ranges are 0-1600° Other than the over heat warning the boat is really coming along nice.

Just spray the back of the vinyl with it before you start to apply it, then just work out the bubbles with a squeegee. Windex also works in a pinch but Rapid Tac works the best.

    Know what would be a fun watchable video? The drag car, the G body, competing at the LZ world tour.

      There haven’t really been any drift comps this year outside of FD unfortunately. Klutch kickers shut down. Riverside 50k’s shut down. I just went mountain drifting a few videos ago.

    A suggestion here it might be an idea to put a piece of tubing on either side going from the platform down to the lower gard to create a log gard for the jet especially for when you are in reverse as there could be semi floaters that could not be visible

    This feels like ADDvanced chasing the overheat issue😅 he spent an entire season chasing it. You should check him, and his solution, out.

    If you can get that same diamond pattern pad that's on the inside for the outside, would be fire! I thought that's what you were doing and the gray stuff peeled off but then I realized that was the finished product lol good progress though and great vid

    Hey I had bad experience wrapping first time and hated wrap after that! However long story short I had to wrap my car and I was forced to do it right this time and the biggest thing that helped me to learn how to wrap is GLASSING THE WRAP BEFORE USING SQUEEGEE! You have to heat and stretch the wrap and then everything falls in place and you won’t break your head trying to fix hundreds of creases and wrinkles !

    I wonder if you should try removing the restrictors you put in now that you got that piece out of the exhaust. Maybe also add the horns back to the bucket now that you have the platform back there. Seems like they will help it back up way better.

    Hey Taylor, love the boat content, one suggestion i have is to double clamp all of your hoses. Would hate to see the boat take on water because of a clamp failure.
