This is genius on many levels. He is making the elements themselves apologize...This why I think Lupe's the 🐐. He even wrote a gaphic novel for this project (not sure it's done yet). Unfortunately people wont get it until he's left us. People within the craft know what's up though. Listing the ships was essential for what he is trying to accomplish in the song. The fact there are so many is ridiculous and he purposely forces the names on you so you realize the scale of this since it is heavily brushed over in schools. Nice reaction guys!

Another level of Lupe genius was his tenuous relationship with Atlantic records, their control over his career (slavery), and him regaining his freedom to control his art (the Longchains).

I think the purpose of the boats was that it kept going and going. The weight of knowing each of one of those boats held hundreds of slaves. Cause those boats were NEVER taught about in school
One of Lu's more poetic songs, I want him to do more like it. Lots of nuggets in this one. Notice when he starts naming slave ships, he starts with the Jesus and ends it with the Lord. My friends didn't like this album because of the heavy Atlantic slave trade theme in the first half of the album, I didn't realize this until later but guess what his manipulative label was named. There's a timesnuroman for this, its his most recent video. For more context to this song, react especially to the previous song which is also great, Gold vs the right thing to do, on that he uses a convincing heavy Jamaican accent to rap. Also the following song, Down. He won't perform any of the first 9 songs on drogas wave unless they are 1 through 9 in a row because of the story.
Walking on water, wow wow, W.O.W, W.alking O.n W.ater, also when he was naming all of the slave ships, he started with the Jesus and ended with the Lord, yeah he knows what he’s doing.

Even though Jackson is a honor student, he must not be too interested in history. No substance hehehe. I came up with this double on my own that this song could be a double for jumping off the deck of his label and he's telling fellow rappers in the industry to do the same and watch out for screwy contracts or also they'll breach contract like it doesn't matter like what happened to him (edit) I see you guys talking about it at the end, I too feel it's important to name every ship name for that long because it's embarrassing history especially if you're white like you or me, sufficient to say it's there to drive the point home.
i agree that the ship naming is not appealing and way to long, but thats the point, its waaaaaay to long, its really depressing if you listen to it and it doesnt end it keeps going, how many fuckin ships where there, damn it?
