What is your favorite Nemophila song?
Oiran
All of them
Adabana
Zen, Revive, Game Over, Ama-Te-Ras, Monsters. Not a skip song in three albums.
Dissention(OMV), Zen (official live), Ama-Te-Ras(official live), Rise(OMV), Revive (official live), Seize the Fate (official live), etc...
Go with #1. From Tokyo, band was formed in 2019 , by lead singer Mayu, when she was looking for a backing band for a live session. She called her former classmate, bassist Hariguchi-san. They found Tamu Murata, a very in demand session drummer, and guitarists Saki (ex-Mary's Blood), and Hazuki (ex-Disquala). Deciding the lineup was too good for a one off, they formed the band, and named it after a flower because they are all female. A Nemophila is a blue and white 5 petal flower, primarily native to the western US.
They are like LOVEBITES in that they have 2 lead guitarists. Though a bit heavier vocally, as Mayu does screams as well. As far as the guitars, Hazuki plays a 7 string Ibanez, Saki a 7 string Killer guitar, and a 5 string Sadowski for Hariguchi-san. This song is from their first album, Revive. The 3rd album, Evolve, was released last month.
Definitely try more from them, including live videos. Suggestions: "Oiran", "Seize the Fate", "Dissension", "Adabana", "Revive", "Style",
and their newest song "Ame-te-ras".
Awesome. Thank you for the information and suggestions
Nemophila - "baby blue eyes" flower, "Rurikarakusa" in Japanese; grows in N-America and is appreciated in Japan (see "Hitachi Seaside Park").
The band was formed in 2019, originally as a "session" brought together by...
Mayu - the vocalist (ex- Lipstick band);
Haraguchi-san - (ex- HöLDERLINS band) bass, backing vocals, was Mayu's friend and colleague from Music College;
Tamu Murata - drums, backing vocals, one the most respected session musician in Japan (countless bands), with also her own original carrier; she's also the wife of Akira Yamaoka, musician/composer, known especially for his videogames OSTs, in particular for "Silent Hill";
Saki (ex - "Mary's Blood" band for a decade, "Destrose", and others), she's a "young sacred monster" in J-metal) guitar, backing vocals, and...
Hazuki (KOIAI "Dark Indigo" / Li-sa-X, Disqualia bands) - guitar, backing vocals; both, Saki and Hazuki have a lot of experience.
Nemophila made an amazing fandom impression during the pandemic, thru CZcams clips...
...so far about 50 Western/Japanese awesomely bonkers covers, and about 40 original, freakishly insane good songs (singles, EPs - including the JPURecords' Extended Edition of "Oiran", 3 albums - "Revive", "Seize The Faith", "Evolve").

Nemophila is a SUPERBAND!! They are extremely talented!! RAITEI is my favourite song from them!! BTW, both their guitarists use 7 strings guitars, and 5 strings bass.
I didn't even know 7 string guitars existed
@@AceofBadeReacts Haha, you need to check out MIYU from the band ASTERISM and his one-of-a-kind ESP 7-string bass. 🤘
@@AceofBadeReacts here is one of their very first mv when the were kids. Prodigy band czcams.com/video/2gBCmUWqtJU/video.html
@@AceofBadeReacts
Hazuki (on our left, light hair, blue guitar) plays mainly an Ibanez Rg8527z J.Custom (also one of the faves of Tim Henson of Polyphia).
Saki (on our right) playing a Killer KG-Spellbind Seven.
Bassist Haraguchi plays Sadowsky 5 strings.
Number 1. Love this band def check out Adbana or any live video next!
Awesome. I'll add it to the list
No. 1 is the closest, just emphasize more on the E like NEH ..in Japanese, E didn't sounds like EE because they utilize I for EE sounds, and E mostly sounds like EH or AY (in SAY). The other (I think 3rd) that changes L to R mostly how Japanese spelling stlye (and thus read literally) because they don't usually use L in their language - as opposed to Chinese which reverse in that context, L is common compared to R.
Interesting. I will do my best in the future
"E" is not usually pronounced like "ay," unless it is immediately followed by an "i," such as in the name Rei or the genre Visual Kei. That letter combination would actually be two quick syllables "eh-ee," which comes out sounding like "ay" to non-Japanese speakers, because the sounds when spoken together quickly almost form a diphthong. But when the "e" is by itself, it has more of a short e sound, like in bed, or net. And although it would be common to replace the L with an R sound, in the particular instance with how they pronounce their name, they don't, they use the standard English pronunciation (though it is a bit awkward for them to do so). If you check out the live video of Oiran from the Naon na Yaon live stream, you can hear Show-ya's lead singer pronounce it when she introduces them.
Don't bother trying to assign one look or genre to Nemophila: both vary from track to track. A very diverse band.
SAKI and Hazuki share lead and rhythm work. Their frequent format is to take a solo each and then to come out of the solo section with some harmony work. That's what they did in this video. The guitarist on our left with the ESP 7-string is Hazuki (she is now an Ibanez artist), and the guitarist on our right with the Killer brand 7-string is SAKI.
That's fair. Mixing it up is pretty cool
Nemophila is one of the best band's in the world 🤘🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
They are named after the flower known as Baby Blue Eyes so if you look up the dictionary definition of the flower it will have the proper pronunciation and the band is more of the metalcore style where as LOVEBITES is technically British new wave heavy metal
I did get that hint of metalcore in this song
VERY IMPRESSIVE BAND FOR SURE ❤
Zen, Ama-te-ras, Adabana, Raitei, Dissension... And all the ballads: Life, Now I Here, Odyssey. Just love almost everything they do!!
No1. That’s how the band and almost everyone else says it. Japanese say Eh instead of ee. There’s no finding Nemo 🐟 in Nemophila. The blue and white flower(baby blue eyes) from Northern America that is grown in massive numbers at the Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan. Each of the 5 petals represents a member of the band.
That's really cool that they decided on that
Cute + brutal = NEMOPHILA ⚡️🤟🏻⚡️
Pretty sure it's pronounced with a long E in the first syllable. Ie... Knee-mo-FEE-la, so 2. It might be pronounced differently in Japan, but I have heard it pronounced that way when they're being introduced. You could call them "Bob" though. Best band out there right now. Amazingly talented.
Welcome Nemo fella to the most incredible band right now¡¡ Nemophila are:
Mayu: Vocals
Murata Tamu: Drums
Hazuki: Lead guitar Ibanez (7 strings)
Saki: Lead guitar Killer (7 strings)
Haraguchisan: Bass Sadowsky ( 5 strings)
Recommendations: Zen Live, Revive, Ama-te-ras, Oiran, Alive, Change the World, Seize the Faith.
Regards from Chile.
Awesome. Thank you for the information
Nemophila are pure 🔥🔥🔥. I recommend Adabana or Revive next.
1 for the pronunciation. The "lotus" on the beginning of the video is a mon (Japanese family symbol) of a nemophila (baby blue eyes) flower. To see more of Nemophila's range of styles look at "Zen", "Adabana", "Oiran", "Style". "Life", "Revive", "Hypnosis", and "Ama-Te-Ra". Two lead guitars, Hazuki (blue Ibanez) and Saki (Killer Fascinator Empress) both play solos and rhythm, both are too good to not have do solos.
Awesome. Thank you for the information and requests. They have been added
Magical band. Nemophila is doin’ same to Metal than Band-Maid is doin’ to Rock..They are saving it! These ladies have it all: Passion 🔥 Work 💪 Heart ❤️ Talent 🤘 Amazing musicians, humble humans. Just lovin’ Nemophila 🤘🔥❤️🇫🇮
The members of nemophila are musicians from different bands. They are all excellent musicians. And nemophila is a very unique and diverse band, with various genres of music appearing in their catalog. I recommend《oiran》live(recent one) or《rise》live as the next!🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻
It sounds like this is a supergroup of sorts
"Neh-moe-fill-uh". All syllables roughly equally stressed. The "fill" syllable is actually kind of between "fill" and "feel".
Thank you for that
No.1 pronunciation at least from my understanding.
That's one of their midlevel tracks in terms of heavy. They go far heavier and far lighter. Also there is a LOT more to what Mayu can do vocally.
To see the other end of Mayu's vocals I would try any of the following;
Nemophila - Zen live
Nemophila - Oiran live
Nemophila - Revive live
Nemophila - Dissension MV
Nemophila - Rise live or MV
Singer: Mayu
Drums: Tamu
Bass: Haraguchi San
Lead guitar A: Saki (aka Chucky because she loves the Chucky horror films)
Lead guitar 1: Hazuki
Both leads 7 strings.
Saki was at one point a guitarist in a band called Destrose. Haruna (Lovebites drummer / founder) and Miho (Lovebites ex bassist and founder) also used to be in Destrose. Destrose was founded by Mina, who now has a band called Fate Gear
Fate Gear - Fight Against Justice MV
Fate Gear - Headless Goddess MV
Fate Gear - Unbreakable Wings MV
-----
Other bands, women / women fronted from Japan, all metal / rock / punk, at least broadly
Hanabie - WE LOVE SWEETS MV
Gacharic Spin - Mindset MV
Passcode - Taking you out MV
Broken by the Scream - Sayonara Birthday MV
Otoboke Beaver - Don't Light My Fire
It sounds like there is quite a bit to learn about Japanese Rock
Both Saki and Hazuiki have 7 string guitars with the extra string lower. And Haraguchi-san has a 5 string base. Same there. The extra string lower. Just to be able to play harder.
That's really cool. I haven't really seen a 7 string guitar before
@@AceofBadeReacts Metal players that wants to play heavier have them. Than you do Drop D tuning "A D a d g b e". Normal six string is "E a d g b e".
@@rolandkarlsson7072 Is the A string thicker than the E string?
@@AceofBadeReacts Its thicker.
Heavy metal punk rock is not a horrible description.
No.1 or No.2!
Raitei is an early release but is still one of my favourites.
Vocals are Mayu - 2x Lead guitars who trade off and harmonise - Saki playing a 7-string 'Killer' and Hazuki playing a 7-string 'Ibanez' - Haraguchi-San with a 5-string 'Sadowsky' Bass and Tamu Murata playing Tama Drums.
All incredibly talented as individuals, but when you bring them all together.................WOW!!
So many recommendations, but try Adabana next - czcams.com/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/video.html
Thank you for the information
Try Dissention (OMV) or Zen (official live video) for a whole other level of Nemo (much darker and heavier; no strobe lights!...haha!)
I'll add them to the list
There is an awesome live version of this song on YT, but I somehow prefer this OMV.
Btw, your #1 pronunciation of the band name was good👍😉
Now to replicate it for the future
Mi favorita de Japón es Nemophila ❤ tremenda banda polivalente! Es la cantante, no es cualquier cantante, es la mejor! Denle una buena composición y ella lo hará un éxito! Saludos 👍
muy bien puesto
Most of the world including the group say
Neem-oh-FEEL-ah
So your first go came close.
Caveat: it is a North American flower genus and many of our botanists say
Nim-AH-fil-ah
Other pronunciations are, um, just wrong. Sorry for anyone using them.
The song is like
Rye-tie!
Listen to Mayu's last word here.
Which means thunder (with implied lightning).
Please note that I intend the above as edification, not criticism. Thank you for checking them out, they have lots more!
Try Dissension next if you like heavy.
No, solid. I heard even the band says it different each time. They did bring the thunder in this one for sure
1 & 2 are the most correct and how they say their name.
It's two lead Guitars
Both Saki and Hazuki play 7-strings.
No 1 for the name (bin following from the start and its 100% just say the first E as Eh not EEE ) Two 7 string guitars 5 string bass and there both lead equal ability 2 of the very best in Japan and very highly rated world wide .The vid is simulating that there in the clouds (white feathers on the floor ) as Raitei is thunder +the ending is thunder and lightening LOL . Very Very good band Suggest you do Zen to see just how heavy they can go .Also imposable to put this band in a box so best not to even try there a blend of all that's good and will surprise you at every track .would be nice to see you do some more.
I think there will be more Nemophila in the future
Please react to more Nemophila, Revive, Dissension , Rise
They have been added to the list
#1 is correct. #2 is acceptable. The others are horribly wrong. My favorite Nemophila song is the last one I listened to.
#1 neh-moe-FEE-la
Great reaction to an AWESOME band. Check out their in studio covers as well...SUPER FUN!
Any specific one to start with?

@@AceofBadeReacts Zetsubo Billy buy Maximum the Hormone is fun
Pronunciations 1,2,&5 are all close enough. We worry about stress, and we lengthen syllables. They use a single beat per vowel, and don’t stress anything. Rather, not the way we do; their stress is pitch, not volume or emphasis; don’t worry about that now. Each vowel is always pronounced the same, coincidentally identical to Spanish. They say A like open up and say “ah”. E is long a, like in Canada “eh”. I is long e, “See”? U is smelly “ewww”. O will wow you “woah”. And L & r sound they same to them, they don’t much care. They do know Ph is F, their F can be understated.
So, they see Ne Mo Phi La
and say Neh Mow Fee Rah
Flat and short/curt.
Se bonne, capiche?, das ist gut
Interesting. Thank you for that lesson
Two lead guitarists, both 7 strings. Wait till you hear her screams!
Pronunciation #1 is the most correct. "Neh-mo-fee-la." The first syllable "e" is pronounced like the "e" in "net." And none of the syllables are stressed, they are all spoken evenly. So "neh-mo-fee-la," NOT "nee-mo-fee-la," NOT 'neh-MOFF-il-la" (although that is how the flower they are named after is pronounced), and NOT "neh-mo-FEE-la" (this one is acceptable, but not technically correct, as there is no accent on the third syllable). They also do not pronounce the "L" as a Y or R, as they might normally do in Japanese, they pronounce it in the English manner.
Interesting. Thank you for the information
hey the girl you react with i think you said her name was dollface or something like that if im wrong im sorry you should show her Nemophila and you two react to their cover of Linkin Park Given Up the song with the scream it is amazing please let me know what you think
Yeah Dollcake. You know, that sounds like a good idea. I think I'm reacting with her later this month. I'll remember that one
@@AceofBadeReacts sweet you guys liked hybrid theorys version this one is better
Sorry, one more comment. Since you are starting your journey, I would recommend the song Oiran. You might as well start in the beginning, although off the top of my head Raitie was their second release. If Nemophila has a signature song it would probably be Oiran as they close most of their concerts with this one. I would suggest their latest live version from their channel, although the Naon Yaon live during COVID is also pretty good, but not the top sound quality.
For genre comparison, don’t even try (at least not yet). Yes many of their songs have a Metalcore feel which combines Heavy Metal with Punk (in general). However, Nemophila is probably the most diverse Japanese band I listen to. The obvious exception would be Babymetal that has a whole team behind their music. Power ballads, Industrial, Progressive, Power, Speed, Thrash, Nu, Metalcore….. this bands performs all of it. ❤️🌸
I will keep that in mind. Thank you
I just saw them at Budokan. Holy shit, what a show! Also, don’t worry about genre with these ladies. They play whatever they want.
That's pretty cool
Number 2 sounds totally correct, but number 1 is OK-ish. I see that most claim 1 to be the one, but .... I do think they are wrong. There shall be a clear L.
Number 3 - I do not know where you have got this one. Never heard it.
Number 4 is funny. Why? Dyslexia?
Number 5 is how US people speak latin. But, I think you almost forgot to say the L. This is wrong, both with and without L.
Yeah that's fair. I just saw different ones on google and heard someone say it in a video
#1.
Nemophil-a (NOT “Nemophil-i-a) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of:
ex-Mary's Blood guitarist Saki
ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu
ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X)
ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and
ex-Soramimi drummer Murata Tamu
This is one of the bands to watch, no question. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.”
Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized by Mayu with some help from Saki, largely to keep busy in the early days of the pandemic. They started by posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” czcams.com/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/video.html
The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” czcams.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/video.html
After Oiran, others to check include "Dissension", which will fry whatever is left of your circuits: czcams.com/video/26aMuahxz8c/video.html and “Raitei”, which you just watched. It means “Thunder” in Japanese, and yes, they bring the thunder.
More recent drops that showcase their intensity and versatility:
“Adabana” czcams.com/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/video.html
“Style” czcams.com/video/Aph5GON6rPc/video.html
(written by their bassist, Haraguchi-san)
“Seize the Fate” czcams.com/video/4tpgLyckVYg/video.html
“Rise” czcams.com/video/rD3VMAm-9iA/video.html
Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. She has already written several songs for the group. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a great metal vocalist.
They have toured the U.S. twice. I saw them live and they blew the roof off the place.

No.1, or No. 2. It is commendable your are trying to get the name correct. Very respectful, but don’t get too caught up on it. I’ve been following Nemophila since their first single release Oiran in February 2020, and all of their covers during 2020. Of course I’ve since gone backwards the Mayu Session performance in 2019.
Over the years, I heard the band members pronounce the name with slight variations themselves. This normally comes from the setting, meaning if they are speaking it, or screaming it. The namesake flower is originally from North America, so think English and like all Romance languages has a Latin foundation. Many plants found their way to Japan a long time ago, and vis a versa. My yard is full of Asian plants. I’ve read comments from Japanese natives that use a slightly different pronunciation as many English sounds aren’t found in Japanese.
Regardless, Nemophila has found international fame and in turn the pronunciation may vary with accents. I don’t think the band cares about the pronunciation as much as the exposer. That is just my personal opinion. One of my top two bands. ❤️🌸
Thry're pretty cool for sure
