  • While I'm familiar with some parts of "Everlong" from past students practicing it, I've never heard Foo Fighters or Dave Grohl singing (apart from Dave as Satan in Tenacious D's '"Tribute"). I'm excited to hop into a live version, and acoustic at that!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Foo Fighters for the first time, performing "Everlong”.

Having 50,000 people sing your song to you has to be a wild feeling. Happens a lot at Foo Fighters shows. The Foo's once held a contest on several radio stations across the country. The winners got a free show in their own garage. Another time a group of 1000 musicians gathered in Cersana Italy and recorded the Foo Fighters song - Learning to Fly . They posted it on YT and sent it Dave . With the request for The Foo Fighters come play for them in their small town. Dave isn't the best singer technically wise, but he's a great frontman. His way of interacting with his audience, his humor, his energy and his storytelling make Foo Fighters shows unique. He sings from the heart and he has been through so much terrible in his life (lost his mother and his two best friends and bandmates). If you meet him off stage, he is like everyone else, warm, funny and extremely humble. He has never let success go to his head.
Everyone should go to a Foo Fighters concert if they get the chance, it's two and a half hours you'll never regret.

You talk about wanting the energy at the end to continue, and that’s the power of the original. You talk about the intimacy of the lyrics - “breathe out, so I can breathe you in” is my favorite part - and that’s about the only part that’s more immediately apparent in this performance than the recorded one, but with everything else going on it’s an impressive observation.

One of my fave stories about FF is that when they performed on Conan yrs ago, they didn’t stop at one song. With no cameras rolling, they played a whole damn concert! To give the studio audience a full performance. 🥰

Dave broke his leg in one concert and had a doctor hold his leg still while they finished because people paid money to see them and he didn't want to leave without giving them a show. I think he kept playing for another hour.

One of my favorite live performances of is when he fell off stage and snapped his leg. He did the rest of the show from a chair and a physician held his leg in place the whole time so it wouldn’t get worse. He’s such a consummate pro. They even recently had an interview and brought that physician to meet him again. He said he was so nervous, one slip and it could have been terrible.
    We love the Grohl ✨🫶🏻✨

Dave grohl is the ultimate entertainer. Especially if you don’t mind a few hundred “f bombs”! I’ve seen him twice in the foo fighters, he has yet to disappoint. You could watch hundreds of his live videos and still get those same chills. If you get the chance you should go see him in person. Also, he’s very likely to do a tea time with you if you can get your team to reach out

Given the chance, Foo Fighters is a MUST see concert.

This video was an absolute treat! I'm so glad you did it 😄
Some backstory... He wrote this song when he was divorcing his first wife but over time it became an icon to fans and the song that closes every show, that's the mix of emotions you hear :) The original version is the power one at the end but most of the times they do the acoustic version to close or a mix of both like this time, that's why the audience is so eager and he teases with the guitar racing thing, because the explotion is coming.
It has always been one of my favourites, specially the acoustic version. The last time I saw this song live was on Taylor's tribute at Wembley, it was heartwrenching, I hope I can see them again soon ❤
