DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking?
When I was growing up, my granny was my favorite cook. My mama was also a fantastic cook, but there was just something about being in granny’s kitchen. We all gathered around the table when we went to her house. I have made it easy for you to learn how to cook like my granny and mama did with cooking tutorials for every recipe in our cookbooks. You can see how to order these by visiting us on our website. Oh, and no difficult-to-find or crazy ingredients! Just simple ingredients and delicious food. I am a Southern girl born and raised in Collard Valley in Polk County, Georgia. We went to church on Sunday, school during the week, and the grocery store on Friday, and that was our life: no vacations, no camping, just plain old southern country people.
If you learn to cook like my mama and granny, you will become one of the best Southern cooks. Thank you so much for being a part of this dream of mine.
NOW FOR THIS FAMILY RECIPE:
Granny's Buttermilk Biscuits (Vol. 2 Cookbook Recipe)
Ingredients:
2 CUPS SELF-RISING FLOUR (WHITE LILY)
1 PINCH BAKING SODA
3/4 -1 CUP WHOLE BUTTERMILK
1/4 CUP CRISCO SHORTENING
Blend Crisco and flour together with pastry blender, blending fork or with regular fork until shortening is pea sized. Add a dash of soda and mix well. Add buttermilk a little at a time until all flour is wet. Just until blended not runny at all. Note: Amount of buttermilk can vary depending on type you buy. Some are thin while others are thick. Sift flour out on counter and put out dough. Sift flour on top then knead 7-10 times. Pat dough about as high as biscuit cutter (3/4 to 1 inch high). Cut out biscuits and place in pan greased with shortening. Take buttermilk and pat tops of biscuits- bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. When done flip upside down to keep bottoms from sweating. Enjoy!

✍Hello Tammy, Chris,fur babies🐾🐾🐾🐾and Guests...Tammy you were laughing about when Chris asked you to merry him💞 you in a apron covered in flour and frying chicken brought me back to a sweet memory. 6months before my husband passed away he'd went to the jewelry store of one of my bank customers to get a battery replaced in his watch and he sold a ring to my husband. I'd come home from working in the bank and was cleaning house and Russ said he had something for me...I told him to wait cause I wanted to get cleaned up but here I am with my hands in dish water and he brings me a present.Now this was very out of his nature cause our girls would help him shop since he'd been so sick but he bought this ring for me. It means more to me than my wedding ring did cause 6 months later he passed away. We'd been married 42 years. It's been 20 years now but I still wear that ring. I have an Amish store fairly close to my house and they have fresh buttermilk(in a glass bottle).. oh my! I will not run out of it. I make your biscuits and it takes a full cup of buttermilk, just like my cornbread, I have to have this buttermilk, it does take a lot more of it.

I keep meaning to order that can opener but Amazon makes me nervous. I'll get around to it one day, I suppose. But I just don't like Amazon. My sister gave me a $100 Amazon gift card over ten years ago and I still have $30 left on it. That is how little I use Amazon. Just to buy books, mainly. I don't trust it for other stuff.
