- Another first video in our road to master series, we have the new disciple from Yun/Yang, Jamie! You guys have been asking for him for a while now so hopefully this can help you out in your ranked matches.
The first video of each series will include a short guide/tutorial at the beginning. It won't be complete with optimal combos, but should be enough to get you and me started in ranked matches. Then, we'll see how we do in our placement matches and try to place as high as we can in ranked!

There is a setting in training mode for character specific things like stocks for Jamie, Manon, Juri, Lily, and the like. Useful for practicing specific stuff without having to input the stocks after a reset.
As a scrub, the easiest way to level up drinks is definitely sweep 😈

Quick point to new Jamie players. If you do rekka into drink at the corner, you are unsafe (-1 i think).
Also you can hold down drive /parry button and mash forward during level 3 to help time the drive rush follow up after.

I think people have been asking for Jamie because he's hard and would like your input on how to use him better.
It's even funnier considering his opinion is "wow this is hard lol"
He's hard because you have to at best give up damage to get your drinks and at worst take damage to get your drinks. Like when you end with the drink rekka you are giving up your turn on a knockdown to get the drink. Unlike most characters that have the option to shimmy an opponent that is waking up you don't have that option if you went for the drink, you are stuck in a situation that is strike/throw putting you in a 50/50.

Level 2 does not reset drinks if you're at 4 drinks. So you can use the activation benefits and recover 50% drive gauge, and it works if you're burned out.

Could you also do a training mode tutorial? You use a bunch of shortcuts and settings that is not obvious if you are not already familiar. I'd love to more efficiently use the training mode in between my matches.

I played Jamie during the beta since I didn't have my usual grappler (or any grappler for that matter) and he seemed the coolest of the beta 8. Ended up really liking him but he's not my usual style and is pretty complex to boot. Definitely picked up some tips and tricks from this video. Good stuff.

You forgot to mention his DL2 target combo: Jamie has a command normal on 6MK that’s an overhead! Normally it only combos on PC or DR with a link into 2LP, but at DL2 he gets a target combo just like his sweep TC where you can 6MK>MK>P to get to the command grab for pretty much free
Lvl1 super is also really good for getting a drink as a combo ender!

I’m new to street fighter, I come from smash (sorry), what is a fierce? Is it just a heavy punch?
Jab = LP.
Strong = MP.
Fierce = HP.
Short = LK.
Forward = MK.
Roundhouse = HK.
The names are old SF2 Arcade Cabinet notations that survive to this day.
Jamie needs so many buffs to be considered a threat, he needs more priority on his dive kick, his drinks should carry from round to round like manon and Lilly and he needs more range on his normals.

Hello Nephew.
I am silver with Manon, Platinum with Ryu but bronze with Jamie and I love playing Jamie but I am not able to convert hits to combos in rank matches and damages are quite low many times I couldn't get my 3rd drink. I am really bad with handling drive impact with Jamie and players in bronze mash DI the moment they hit ground.
Yeah it can be brutal. One thing I find helpful is to use meaty jabs on oki, it gives you lots of time to react and cancel into your own DI if they wake up with it. Both MKs can also cancel into DI, you just have to be careful with it because if you autopilot and cancel into rekka/palm you'll get smoked by DI.
One other helpful move for beating it is stand HP. If you find that they're responding to your drive rushes with DI, try using rush HP to break it. It's a good move to DR with in general as it leaves you +1 on block anyway
It's tricky at first, but once you get your counter DIs down it's super rewarding. You get a free combo into palm+drink, palm into lv 3, or heavy breakdance/DP, all of which are great
How is there such a big difference in rank?? Did you play much after you got placed with each character?
@@JM-nq5gz no, recently I played with Luke placed in Gold and Dhalsim placed in Platinum. Funny thing is probably won the same amount of matches with all these characters still placed differently. Though I know the most about Jamie but in actual matches he is worst
@@lokeleenP Ya the matchmaking is really weird in this game. Ill get placed iron but then go on multiple long winstreaks to take me to high gold or plat which is my actual rank.

Every time he loses the number on the right goes down. So it’s basically how many total matches he can still possibly win.

Ehh they're way too easy to get, they aren't like manons where you have to get them from your opponents misplays.

Drinks definitely need to be there between rounds. Being round 3 against a Manon with 5 metals and you have 0 drinks is scary af.
He only does 90% damage at drink 0, and gains 5% after each drink. If you reach at least 2 drinks, you should start there.
Drinks can be easy but you have to give up pressure to take one. That sucks. And Cammy, Honda, Blanka, and Kim can punish you on KD after palm and throw, so no safe drinks there.
@@Crouton- this is wrong, you need to be able to get space away from your opponent to get drinks

@mrrice7860 Jamiw is good, he's just disadvantaged until drink 2 every round. Don't underestimate Jamie's neutral buttons, he will hurt you for being lazy in neutral or being a mash monster.
GET OUT THE CORNER! Jamie is probably the worst character to get cornered by, even at drink 0, because he has safe jumps off of two moves.
Man, even at level 4, his damage seems kinda low.
I just dont understand the ranking system. He lost like 4 games and got diamond. I literally lost 2 games, both against a diamond 2 manon and got put in gold 4 like what
did you choose advanced initially? they definitely base placements off that at first. if you did maybe it's something to do with my other characters being higher

I’ve always wanted a drunken SF char. I think some of the more unique attacks shouldn’t be locked behind drinks. I also think the drink lvl should max at 3. More people would try him if that were the case. I’m a DJ main right now but have been having some fun with Jamie.
I don't understand people saying Jamie is hard. I hit the lab with him and in about 20 mins, I have beated around 5 online players until I had to go. Jamie is versatile af and has so many moves, it's ridiculously easy to mix up combos.

He was so fun at the beginning, got to platinum lvl 2 but man does getting those drinks in get old. They need to at least carry over for one round, or bring the drink max down to 3. It gets annoying giving up damage/pressure when most of the roster takes 1/3 of your life with little effort.

I wanna play him but that movelist too much, my dumb ass won't remember them all and even if I do I'll try to use moves when I don't have enough drinks.
