1981 Yamaha XS 400 Special II (XS400H)

Just a short clip of starting it some random summer morning. First tried with full choke which didn't work at all, then half choke which fired right up. Finally, turned the choke off.

Nice looking bike. I'm getting ready to buy the exact same model and same color...but not as nice condition. Pretty decent overall and kick and electric start is pretty nice, too.

You'll want to keep a maintenance charger on the battery and top off the cells if it's a flooded style, the electric start system is barely adequate and works best with an extremely strong battery. I usually didn't bother and just used the kick starter :)

the exhaust noise or the higher pitch note? because at idle the engine is nearly silent compared to the exhaust. the engine was a little whiney as I was running pretty thin oil for a hundred miles or so (with LC20 to help dissolve any crude in there). Have since replaced the oil with the proper weight, but it is a small engine.
At what RPM and what location were you talking about?

is it the camera or the engine? i've got the same model but engine work nice and silent
