  • Today we’re going to be talking about two of my favourite things! We’ll be talking about cat geckos, and chameleons! In this video I’ll be sharing an exciting update with you all about my cat gecko breeding, and we’ll also take a look at my brand new bioactive chameleon enclosures! After taking a look at these, we’re going to discuss the controversy behind keeping chameleons in glass enclosures, to better understand why both screen and glass can work.

Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information on how to chose the correct cage type for a chameleon. Screen, hybrid, or glass are simply tools and it should be a basic husbandry skill to select the correct cage type for your environment. It is unfortunate that we have such resistance to intelligent cage type selection in the chameleon community. I can only hope that the next generation of chameleon keepers and "experts" can start beyond the old tired myth that chameleons should always be in a screen enclosure. We have been working for over 20 years to try and stamp that out! Thank you for your help in setting the community free from this myth!

Thank you! After making this video I realized I had completely forgotten to mention hybrid cages, so thank you for bringing those up! Hybrids can also be fantastic options.

I started off a screen enclosure but I couldn’t hold on heat or humidity with it even side’s plastic off so I went to a glass enclosure and so far so good

love what you said about screen. vs. glass for chameleons. I use to keep my veiled chameleon in a screen enclosure, but I also really struggled with dehydration. Currently, I don't keep chameleons, but considering to in the future and will look more into using a glass enclosure!

Okay. I got one. I live in Houston, Texas. It is humid OUTSIDE, year round. BUT!!! At best, the humidity INSIDE my house gets as high as 40% (we also keep the temperature between 70 and 74 during the day, 68 or 69 at night because otherwise we all feel uncomfortable when sleeping). So, for a panther chameleon in a house under these conditions... screen or cage?
