You got me thinking... There are several origin watches that led me to accumulate (I don't collect, I hoard) watches. The first, a fully functional children's toy watch that someone gave me when I was five years old. Then one that my father gave me for Christmas when I was ten or eleven years old. I remember that it seemed like a very expensive watch, 20 USD at that time (I'm 62 years old). Then an Enicar that, again, my father gave me, I don't remember why, when I was about twelve years old and an Orient that I thought was beautiful that was his and he bequeathed me when he exchanged it for a Seiko that I remember perfectly because it seemed to me a luxury watch. I didn't know what happened to that watch. As an adult, in my 20s, I went through Casios, Swatches and Timex. Since then I bought one or two watches, from time to time, until about four years ago, with the start of the pandemic that made me start buying more frequently, about 5 or 6 per year and which I will never sell.
