After learning about her harrowing ordeal with an abusive ex, my heart goes out to twigs! Such a beautiful, talented, intelligent artist, she did not deserve what happened to her! No one does! I've been there before, a couple times, and after taking that first breath of freedom, crying is usually what comes next. The message of this song is so potent! You're gonna cry, sometimes you're gonna feel like it's impossible to move past the trauma, but you just gotta take it one step at a time, let yourself cry and feel that pain, but don't get lost in it! A few years back she also had multiple very large ovarian cysts and she was in so much pain, couldn’t dance or make music. They could have killed her, thank god she got them removed and recovered. Honest opinion : This gave SO many layers. Didn't expect to like this as much as I do. Abels verse was so on point for the vibe. These two sound AMAZING together. The layers of the production is very high quality. Twigs seems to have gotten her flow back from some parts of Melissa....but its a new era. This was fun and fresh! I love how it's so innovative yet it has some familiarity to its sounds. The visual is interesting, new, and fucking fire !

I love the section where she's dancing with her back up dancers in a studio. The way she is smiling at one point shows how much she is enjoying the moment with them. Not only is this just an amazing song it feels like it’s so much more than that. The visuals are ethereal yet are clearly referencing traumatic incidents that happen in and around night clubs…yet it never victimizes the women that experience them and imbues a sense of empowerment instead.
It's also probably referencing the abuse she experienced from her HORRIBLE ex-partner as well. She uses clubs to escape and forget about the abuse but also reclaiming her power in that space as well
Twigs is art. She constantly proves herself again and again when at this point she doesn't even need to anymore.

I agree with everything except the video statement. This just another video with a high budget for creative set design, dancers and wardrobe. Busta Rhymes, Anderson Paak, Outkast, Danny Brown, etc all have truly original, trend setting music videos.

totally, i agree. It's the same with arca, who also worked on this track. I have been dreaming of the 2 of them working together again, but they both somehow lean towards the mainstream more now. It's not really for me anymore, but it's fine. Artists grow and they don't have to grow in the same direction as me.

The Weeknd did the same thing years ago when he transitioned from Kiss Land and Trilogy to Beauty Behind the Mask
When he did that all his fans cried about how he changed because the missed the super depressed and traumatic side shown in his first works but eventually he grew out of that phase and his music grew with him.
I am here as The Weeknd fan. So is it just me or the way FKA twigs sounds reminds me so much of the Trilogy background female voices? What a great reminder of that era.
