  • Are the government first home buyer schemes "too good to be true?" Today, we're going to tackle that very question. Specifically, we're going to uncover the REAL reason that the government has these schemes in place. And - this may surprise you - but it has nothing to do with helping out first home buyers.
Then we'll take a look the different Schemes and Grants and what they offer you.

Hey there! Im currently 19yrs old and just doing some research as Im wanting to get a property as an investment property, would you recommend building and using these grants, or buying a already developed dwelling then renting it out? Thanks !

Thanks Divan, great question. Unfortunately, if the properties going to be an investment, the grant's and scheme's aren't available. Would also be worthwhile checking out: czcams.com/video/Pv66_HrKbR8/video.html&lc=UgyYS3Y85UwUQCqWLMN4AaABAg

Hey bro definitely invest in semi rural and rural SA , VIC and WA, 3 bedroom homes for under 120k!! I'm 18 and that's what I'm doing. 10% down and the longest mortgage possible

I’m particularly concerned in respect of the FHLDS. More debt for single income earners. No LMI insurance, 2% deposit but 98% lend on sky high house prices - spells a recipe to disaster IMO. Bring back FHOG on established dwellings.

Thanks Joel, that would be great. FHOGs on established dwellings would be brilliant!

Great video! There’s not enough videos on information for buy property in Australia. It would be great if you can post some content specific to Victoria as well in terms of government grants and what opportunities to look for. The video on buying a home as a single home owner was very insightful. Thank you :)

I looked into building a new home.
Nothing but a drama and you are lost in space unless you are in the know.
I was appalled by the responses I got off builders and real estate land salesman.
I would never attempt this unless I had plenty of friends in the game or rich, also watch every move they make by a extra building consultant.

I tried to buy my first home last/this year. It unfortunately did not work out. Such a shame as it is cheaper than renting.

Have you guys heard of the affordable home purchase scheme in the ACT? I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on it as a policy and option for first home buyers.

Great question, don't have a great deal to do with it I'm afraid. However, some FAQs can be found here: suburbanland.act.gov.au/affordable-housing/frequently-asked-questions

Awesome, do you guys know anything about buying a unit with a ‘invalid body corporate’ I’m not sure what the agent is communicating to me he wasn’t even sure if the unit and land were sold together until he looked at the paperwork, should I be worried?
