- www.footankle.com/other-foot-p... The person with a very high arched foot often has pain and foot problems specific to their high arch. A 2005 study of foot types showed that about 15% of the population has a higher than normal arch (also known as a pes cavus foot) and 60% of those with high arches have foot pain. The correct foot orthotics can eliminate the pain associated with high arches, but in many cases orthotics are not made correctly to help the person with a high arch. In this video Dr. Larry Huppin will explain how orthotics should be made to provide the best outcome for the person with a high arch.
If you are in the Seattle area appointments can be made from our website at www.footankle.com/.

I know this is an older video, but you hit the nail on the head. The only thing that ever helped my cavus feet was an orthotic that hugged the arch. I'm getting some help but the shoes are not the best. My foot has a narrow/small heel and the ortho shoes don't I'd like some recommendations for combination lasts in an orthotic shoe, so I can get back to a walking routine. I will check back here to see if y ou've posted a link. Thank you in advance.
Thanks, love from Turkey 🇹🇷
Thank you soooo much!!!
You're welcome!
Got my custom arch supports for my high arch feet....the right foot feels maybe to high..its very snug...how do I know if it's to high? When I stand on it I'm pretty balanced. But definitely feel almost a bulge right in the arch area...its one of those 2 3rds of a foot length and no cushion.....anybthoughts are appreciated
I am a runner with high arch, , whats the difference if my arch is supported or not when i run and my forefoot touches first the ground?
Thank you
You're welcome
I have insoles like these but they don't really support my high arch but also it's not just that my big toes on both feet point outwards and when wearing anything on my feet it rubs my knuckle and this really hurt especially when it's tight also feel like half my toes is on the outside of the rubber and can feel the rubber digging in under my foot
I work in security so I stand for very long periods i wear magnum panthers with high arch insoles which i purchased from amazon but even when wearing boots my big toes get rubbed and very painful and feel it squeezing
See a podiatrist with expertise in orthotic therapy. They should be able to either modify a pair of prefab orthotics or make you custom orthotics that will help relieve your pain.
can we fix them plz tell me i have same problem
Me too 😢
What is orthotic management for splay foot
It depends on what kind of pain is occurring . A good orthotic practitioner will identify the structures under stress that are causing pain and prescribe orthotics to reduce those abnormal forces in order to reduce or eliminate pain. Sorry for the slightly vague answer but it's going to be different for everyone.
Why do i have a high arch and i over pronate ?
I do too.
WOW ! do you feel sometimes that with wrong shoes you walk crooked ? thanks for answering ! blessings
It's not uncommon to have high arches and over-pronate. We call it a flexible cavus foot.
thank you for answering . the only shoes i can wear are " posted heel "
i brought some and those DO NOT make me walk crooked ! thank you for answering ! blessings ida guerra
You actually do not over probate The symptom of a high arched or what we call pes cavus foot is actually under pronation and requires a very sophisticated orthotic
Arch pad.. interesting.
I thought you would list the over the counter orthotics that you've found work with high arches. This just felt like a commercial.
Hi Michelle. I don't mention specific orthotic recommendations in the videos as I want the videos to be evergreen and my recommendations may change over time (and in fact my favorite prefab orthotic for high arched feet has changed since I made the video). Instead I refer you to our website for specific recommendations as I can easily update the website. You can find our current favorite OTC orthotics for high arches on this page: www.footankle.com/other-foot-problems/high-arched-foot/

Hi Ever curious: Michelle -- I have several foot problems (Plantar Fasciitis, Peroneal Tendonitis, Insertional Achilles Tendonits) a neutral-high arch, and moderate supination. For years I've worn Powerstep Pinnacle insoles and found them very helpful. Recently I tried the Powerstep Pinnacle Memory Foam insoles and they are even more comfortable and padded, while retaining the same support as the regular Pinnacles. I felt I needed some additional arch support so I purchased the Powerstep Arch Boosters. They are arch-shaped pads that are placed directly under the arch in my Pinnacle insoles that lift the arch support higher. That additional support really helps the insole conform perfectly to my arch. I tried the Foot Chair Orthotics that are recommended in the video and on his website, but I found them very uncomfortable. The padding/cushioning is very minimal, like none at all. Powerstep Pinnacles are much more comfortable for me. PS makes a high arch insole also. I tried it but find the Pinnacle Memory Foam insoles more comfortable. And with the Arch Boosters they become high arch supports. Hope this helps some. Stay well!
I've one high arch foot one normal lol
No one foot arch looks like that. That looks-scary.
꧁ Orlando Cruz ꧂ My feet look like that
Lots do including mine
It’s true, I have the same. Pain is sometimes too much. Gets tired 😴 easily while walking.
