- Most episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine are fairly lighthearted and contain no real danger, but there is one particular episode that stands out for being particularly darker and scarier than the rest. In this video, I talk about Stepney Gets Lost and why it's so effective.

Happy Halloween! Unfortunately due to contentID issues, i had to flip the video. Because I was working on the editing well past midnight, I was way too tired and I guess I forgot to flip the text the right way around, haha.

Stepney gets lost was very nearly "Stepney gest brutally murdered and no trace of his body was ever found" if Topham wasn't inspecting a random metalworks at night.
Oh yes, everything was hinging on that visit. Unless the crew saved him anyway and TFC just happened to be there
Which begs the question: if Harry and Bert were exposed for their crime, what's the justice system on Sodor like? What is the minimum penalty for first degree lococide?
This episode has always been very mindblowing to me. Using Stepney of all engines in this episode is very interesting, giving he escaped from scrap once, and was caught by diesels once again. Having him work at the quarry with Mavis and Toby, too. And that whole grabber scene is so dark, who came up with that idea😄 This IS indeed one of the darkest Thomas episodes of all time! Always been a fan of how spooky and experimental Season 5 was, David Mitton really went full speed ahead with explosions and runaways! Such a shame the show went in a different direction after this season
This one used to scare me so much as a kid, Stepney literally got kidnapped by two random creepy diesels who we’d never seen before and almost died! It scared my brother even more than me, to the point where we often fast-forwarded through this episode while watching the Spills and Chills DVD/VHS. That tape/disk has some other really creepy episodes on it, but I think this one was the scariest of the bunch. Funnily enough I know really like the episode now that I’m older and appreciate how dark and different Thomas was to other kids shows at the time. So sad to see where the show is now with AEG…
Watching this as a child of course spooked me. Nowadays I get goosebumps whenever I watch it. By far one of the best episodes from the classic era and Season 5 in general.

I don’t believe that Stepney returns to the same scrapyard from Rusty To The Rescue?
Because that place in Rusty To The Rescue was the Vicarstown Goods Depot, not the Sodor Ironworks
According to TV Series map made by Unlucky Tug, The Sodor Ironworks is located at Peel Godred, so Stepney probably lost his way up that same Branch Line as Henry did in Haunted Henry
This episode always scared me when i was younger, along with Haunted Henry and Duncan gets spooked
This episode is absolutely chilling and a true standout! All that couldve made it better is if Arry and Bert never appeared again, although thats down to the show itself not the episode
