I use the quick disconnects and they're great. A 60m hamstick is a simple way to get on the band.

I agree. They are great. I have them on all my ham sticks as well as my MFJ 1979. I have the stud end on my ground stake, mag mount, and vehicle mount. 60M is one band I can’t get on with my EFHW or my vertical when I’m away from my shack. The ham stick will allow me to work FT8 while I’m activating parks.

Thanks so much for this video. I need to do this for my 20m shark antenna. I'd be interested to see a little WSJT-X output showing how well you do with this antenna at a 2.4 SWR.

New subscriber here. I am tuning Shark sticks on my GMC truck and getting high SWR readings. I expected 40m to be a problem but not 20 or 10. I have bypassed the feed line from the cab in case that introduced error. I haven’t bonded the metal of the truck and didn’t think that mattered as much but I could have been wrong. Any sage advice? All the best, 73 de KI5HXM

Thanks for subscribing and commenting. I haven’t had issues with bonding myself with my truck or SUV. I’ve used mag mounts on the roof as well as the Ford specific mounts which bolt directly to the frame. The newer Ford bodies have a lot of aluminum so the mounts which are intended to mount to the frame are nice. A friend of mine was having issues with bonding until he used a braided strap on his truck.

Did you have to cut the wipp at any point?

      I didn’t cut the whip.

@@HamRadioOverTheCoax Do you think if you cut the whip you may have tuned it better? I would assume that antennas advertised for certain bands and frequencies would have a way to tune them down a bit better than you were able to accomplish there?

Good question. The other ham sticks turned up easier than this band. For example, I think my 20m stick is about 1.2:1 or so.
