    Love the MPC mixing/mastering videos. Hard to find tutorials like this where the person actually seems to know what they’re talking about. Thanks!

    The Air Para EQ is my favorite EQ on the MPC. Very useful and easy to use to get clean sounding mixes. I use it on every single track in the project

    I hope that the YT algorithm will work in your favor and you will reach more audience. These tutorials on YT follow the same pattern, we sample something, add drums and we have a boombap beat. Mostly zero information about what is happening apart from hitting the pads :-) To sum up, this is great material for people who have decided to buy modern mpc and work in standalone mode and have no experience with previous work in DAW

      @@TheCratesMotel I really love that Para EQ in general for cleaning up things.
      I had totally forgotten about the PEQ's, stopped using them when Akai added the Para EQ, and automatically assumed it to be superior. But after seeing this vid I finally understand it and used it last night on some crunchy Fender Rhodes chops with some great results! Thanks again for the knowledge.

    Cool stuff in here. I am a heavy user of Air Creative FX Plus, and a lot of MPC Air plugins are sometimes the same, sometimes a mashup of those.
    Nice overview, much appreciated.
    The Air Enhancer can throw in some good harmonics indeed. Can do some interesting things with bass.

    Something has to to light with the Akai PEQ2 & 4 that there is a problem with them on the Force. If you set the Q on any band over a value of 9 things start to go wrong. If you cut it with higher Q settings it starts boosting instead of cutting which isn't right. Added to this a displayed cut of 3db could actually be 15db or more.
    Not sure if the MPC's are effected. It's easy to test with a pink noise sample looped and look at the output with a spectrum analyser. But you can hear it anyway.
    The Air PEQ's work as you'd expect.

    Nice video ! Those arrangement of the knobs are not good from my view because I would prefer to have the Q selection per band like on an mixer. I love turn gain and frequency at the same time for the mid range for example

    So which eq should I use if I’m doing just minor stuff like taking out the low and etc..I only work in standalone too so what would be the best choice? Thank you

    • @boratezel
      @boratezel Před rokem +3

      Kill EQ would work really well for that purpose, that's what it's designed for 😊

    • @TheCratesMotel
      @TheCratesMotel  Před rokem +6

      I find for quick clean up or general EQ work the channel strip is a good all rounder. As mentioned, kill EQ is good for removing low end although I find the slope on the cut off a bit harsh sometimes, so for organic tracks like piano, vocals, etc it sounds a bit fake to me. If you want to add some character use the PEQs. They’re also good for general EQ work. The Air Para is the ultimate transparent EQ in standalone in my opinion, but is a bit heavier on processor power, so for general clean up, it’s a bit of an overkill.
