Next week starts a brand new photography series on the channel which means weekly videos once again, so I got a new XPS laptop to hopefully make the workload a little easier to handle! Wanted to stress test it and put it through its paces with the programs we all use and see how it holds up! What do you think?? Is it a keeper???

What a relief to view an excited reviewer that does not put down other products! As a dual platform user, mac and PC, I know that both works well and that arguments often are used to support bias. Seems like you know your stuff, and I must admit that your enthusiasm spreads to me as a viewer. :-)

Xps 15 user here, specifically the xps 15 9500 (2020) model but had the laptop for more or less a year now and tbh it's been pretty great. Fortunately when I got my model back in dec 2020 it had the wobbly trackpad issue so I had to send it back for a replacement unit but overall been solid for the past months. The screen not to mention has been awesome to work with when I color correct photos and videos.
Only gripes I had was the battery life being abysmally short like 4.5 hours light use but 2 when I have premiere open and it getting quite warm but this is down to me configuring my model with an i9-10855H and 4k touch screen (basically maxed out). Not to mention my trackpad likes to act super erratic and misclick here and there after a couple hours of use so I am forced to use a mouse.

One thing I had in mind, since it has a touch screen... Does it support drawing with the Dell pen? It would be cool if it does... It's gonna be a productivity laptop/gaming machine/drawing tablet all in one package.

This is definitely helpful but I would love to see how it is after being used for a while. Like a phone, over time and usage, computers tend to slow down especially with high demanding tasks and having various files bogging down the storage and ram. My 2020 Dell XPS 15 Creator Edition top spec'd and video editing every week, I would say it has definitely slowed down. Still works amazing but has slowed down when running through Premier Pro timelines with 4K videos, animations, transitions and all. Definitely looking at this laptop especially since I heard it is slightly lighter than the 2020 model.

And I have all my files backed up on an external hard drive. Again,. I was not asking how to clean up my computer. If I needed that, I wouldn't have asked people on CZcams.

I don't think the hardware changes over time it's just that the registry in windows gets full of crap and no amount of maintenance helps imho, so as a rule I just back up what I need to keep and then completely wipe the c drive and do a fresh install once a year just download windows from MS then start all over it's a royal pain downloading all my apps again because it's a whole days work but my PC always works like new plus all the tweaks MS has made over time are already there in the latest version of windows, hope this helps

Cheers, Jim

If you have external drives and backups that are thunderbolt 4 they can swap over 40gb a second, if you want to save some money get a thunderbolt 3 they do 10gb still fast. But mostly its nice to have the latest ports on it. Thunder bolt 4 also allows for the laptop to be charged via an USBC monitor and not plugged into an outlet when the lid is shut.
