Introduction to Western Dressage

Western Dressage is one of the fastest growing disciplines in the horse industry and is being offered by many associations. This unique style of riding combines the traditional Western gear with the elements of traditional dressage. Multiple world champion trainer Tim Christensen introduces the discipline and explains how it came to be. If the horse is trained by putting it behind the vertical and pulling on the reins or yanking to force a head carriage, it is NOT western dressage and does not reflect its ideals. It is unfortunate that this is not better understood at every level including by top pros.
