He started his own.

Yeah went to the one in Atlanta and it was lit. It had a bar, karaoke, and the food was fye. Wish they could do something like that here in Chicago but it unfortunately wouldn’t work.

Now check this out. Mambo is a type of what we Chicagoans call Mild sauce but in DC its Mambo, okay, fine. But listen up, The guy who invent the sauce in DC is originally from Chitown. Yes, D.C. I know you reading this. The brother is a Chicagoan. Now all he did was made up a batch of mild sauce and call it Mambo for the GoGo heads. Thats all he did. Big up, to Chi/D.C.

In DC we have mumbo sauce but my dad’s side is from South side chicago. And nothing can compare to mild sauce!! And damn can they fry chicken properly up there!!

OMG, we used to drive from the west side to get this chicken 🍗 😋OMG it was so good...
I'm here in Cali. I haven't been to Harold's -- in Chicago -- in over 3 years; I'm so weak. They do have one in Cali (North Hollywood), but it's not the same. When I went there, they charged much more money and they put too much salt on the chicken, and barely give you any sauce, which is the most important thing because drowning your chicken in sauce - which melts in your mouth - is one of the signatures of Harold's Chicken. Hopefully they fixed this problem - but I don't know. I would rather - literally - jump on the plane just to get some Harolds, and some nice Chi-town BBQ.

Nope, that Mambo is mild sauce my brother. I'm born bred Chicagoan living in D.C. and the brother that created Mambo sauce is a Chicagoan. Trust me. Its nothing but mild sauce with a name change bro. Then again, maybe there were some spicies added or removed however nothing but mild sauce. Either way, I enjoy Mild/Mambo sauce!

Girl what??? I, too, am a Chi-Town native and I personally believe Chicago has the best food!! I don’t eat meat anymore but when I did Harold’s was the spot!!! With or without the mild sauce the chicken was crisp and seasoned to perfection, but the mild sauce is on point!

While I don't doubt that some fast food franchises didn't want to open in the Southside of Chicago, Harold's opened their first location in 1950. Popeyes KFC opened their first location ever in the early 1950's. Popeyes (1972) and Churches (1952) were also found after Harold's opened their first location.
So, what about burgers? McD's first Illinois location opened in 1955. Five years after Harold's opened their first location. Wendy's was founded much later than KFC, since the founder of Wendy's, was a KFC franchise owner. Burger King was founded in 1953 in Florida. So, again, after Harold's first opened. Jack in the Box- founded 1951 in San Diego, CA.
I don't know what fast food franchises that are founded/based in the Mid West are. Maybe, she was talking about those chains. But, the major national chains, were founded after Harold's first opened!
