- There are many types of Ogee arches, including the three-centered arch and the four-centered arch. Each of these arch types has its own variations.
Today's lesson is about drawing an Ogee four-centered arch using six parts.

It would be great if there was more explanation to WHY you were doing things the way you are. Why divide the base in to 6 parts? How would they have drawn this arch in medieval times with just a compass and a straightedge?
Hi, there are many different types of arches, and for each type, there is a specific way to draw them. In medieval times, they discovered that dividing the base into six parts creates a beautiful shape.
In medieval times, various types of instruments, such as compasses, straightedges, and dividers, were used to divide lines into equal parts. These three tools were sufficient for drawing various types of arches.

@@EengineeringdrawingCad2but why 6? What's the reasoning behind that? The video you linked really doesn't cover arches like these.
As I'll tell you, in medieval times, they discovered that dividing the base into six parts creates a beautiful shape. It is possible to divide it into more or fewer than six parts, but it will result in a different shape. You can see the link below for another type of arch divided into eight parts
