    The rhythms in the original emphasized the offbeat whereas this evo version not only minimizes this but emphasizes (or slams) the first beat of each bar each time which leaves feeling weighty and without the "drive" mentioned in the title. It also loses the chromatic runs which gave it it's creepiness for very simple minor arpeggiated oscillation.

    Dunno why people shit on this, i consider this the second best track in the game after final boss theme.

    Extremely underrated song. People try to hard to compare it to the original when it works excellently where it’s used in game (it’s expectations of something different that can make it bad)

    Yeah best version

    You guys just dislike this because it's not atonal (creepy sounding as a result) like the original. Take this by itself and it's a great piece of music for a game.

      Bro... It's replacing the original when used in-game. Doing that is kinda stupid.

      The music itself is Awesome. Its like the YS IX Final Boss, just hearing it for the first time I felt nothing for it, I also felt it was WAY TOO LITTLE Eppic, then I played the battle and I saw how good it fits there. The original fits the theme absurdly well, and since that's a lengthy battle in Nightmare, I never got tired of the music.
      This one feels way more Solemn and calm, it works for a cutscene actually, but for a lengthy battle? I don't think I would enjoy it that much xD
      That being said: The music is good out of context, it is a Falcom music after all. Just notice that of all musics they have done official re-arranges, this one was never a choice: there's not much they can change to make it better. xD

    this track is like ok in a vacuum but i can't process it as a battle theme when the original is so much better. this is a cutscene or map theme, it just doesn't capture the grim tone of the original, the 'ah jesus fuck it's demon time'

  • @joshuajoestar6185
    @joshuajoestar6185 Před 7 lety +26

    Sounds like a map BGM but not a battle one.

    • @advmx3
      @advmx3 Před rokem +1

      Yes. like a Final Dungeon, or at leaast someone's twisted lair, not demoniac though.
      It feels like it would play very good on a cutscene. The direction for the EVO version of Zero and AO is weird, I won't lie. Apart from Get over the Barrier - Roaring Version, which is absurdly better in the Evo version with the new additions, it's only good there because they follow the original to the core and only added to it. The rest of the Evo ost is lacking to me. ESPECIALLY if you ever have played the Kai or original versions first.

    A bit strange compared to the original but I like the bass.

  • @advmx3
    @advmx3 Před rokem

    It's completelly different from the original. But that could be said for eveyr single song in the EVO version. Different than the Sky Trilogy that every single song could be enhanced given the choice of instruments being different in that trilogy, Zero/Ao kinda already takes the EVO direction of those games, so they did change quite a lot.
    This one feels way more sollenm. But I also feel like since this is such a lengthy battle in the original or Kai game, if the Evolution version is balanced just like the Sky series, then this battle is at least twice as long and harder than the Nightmare mode of the Zero game. IF that's the case, the original fits the battle way better. I spent HALF an hour in that battle, and never got tired of how hyped the song made me. This one, if I loop it for ten minutes I will get tired of it. It loses most of it's effect after a while.

    This version just doesn't work, it's nowhere near grim enough like the original for what it's for.

  • @soveoclock
    @soveoclock Před 3 lety +7

    Bleh. What happened here? This is one of my favorite tracks from the OST and it's almost unrecognizable. The big escape sequence running through the city toward the end wouldn't have been remotely as hype if this had been in the background. It sounds like generic map music, no sense of drive or urgency to it.

      I think you're talking about the wrong song mate, Demonic Drive only plays during boss fights against demonic enemies
