Lots of circling back to episode 1 in the season finale, but the one really hammered home was what Viserys said to Rhaenyra: "The idea that we control dragons is an illusion." Lucerys's dragon reacted in fear by spewing fire at Vhagar, and then Aemond couldn't stop his dragon from killing both young dragon and nephew. His game turned into a disaster because neither dragon acted as its rider expected it to.

Vhagar is literally an over hundred years old war machine with a 19 year old teenager on her back needling commands into her brain. Dragons can hear commands, doesn’t mean they’ll listen. This is prolly why it’s much preferred to put a dragon egg in a cradle with Targaryen from birth and have them bond basically like siblings once the egg hatches.
On the flipside, you have Arrax who was the same age as 14 year old Lucerys. Basically a toddler dragon, forced into a situation where it panicked like any child and wouldn’t listen to Lucerys out of fear.

I enjoyed how they played out the tension between Daemon and Rhaenyra. Daemon, ever the realist, knew exactly what was being plotted out and the dangerous power the Greens now posed when Rhaenys told them the Greens were coming for them *and* thier children. When Rhaenyra spoke of the song of ice and fire after contemplating the offer Otto brought to her, he knew her naivite and hesitence was dangerous and could get them all killed, whether she wanted to go to war or not - it was a rage of disgust and disbelief. I hope the showrunners let Daemon support and develop Rhaenyra's transformation into the Black Queen, instead of having him be aloof and distant for the rest of season 2; they spent all of season 1 developing their bond and chemistry, would be a shame to not lean into that more. Would love to see the two of them go pure vengance and wrath together. Emma and Matt absolutely eat the screen, incredible casting.

Aemond and Luke had this feud building up since that scene where they gave Aemond a pig and now they finally come head to head. The moment Arrax fired, Aemond’s first reaction was “Vhagar. Nooo!” instead of taking an action to retaliate at Arrax. But it was great stupidity of Aemond to taunt a dragon and a dragon rider like that and completely brushed aside the possibility of someone or something getting killed. He really wanted to scare Luke but it goes to show that he doesnt know about dragons that much that with that age and size of dragon, can you really control it that much? Tsk tsk.

So that makes Arrax to be around 12 or 13 years old just like Luke. On the other hand Vhagar is almost 180 years old. Vhagar was very huge so little Arrax was scared when Vhagar chased him. Arrax threw fire on Vhagar out of fear as he was defending himself. Aemond was responsible for everything that happened. On the other hand Rhaenyra's children were well mannered. Rhaenyra taught her sons manners even though they were bastards.

Vhagar was feeling hesitate to fire Leana, When Daemon was trying to hide from arrows Caraxes raised its wing at that side, Rhaenyra's labor time Syrax was screaming, when Daemon felt threatened Caraxes came to confront Otto also Caraxes felt that another dragon is coming. Same why Aemond's attitude was influencing Vhagar and Lukes to Arrax. Arrax was feeling the same as Luke was. So, he attacked and Vhagar also reacted to protect it's master and took out the threat Luke was just collateral damage.
