First step is Dvaita (dualism), second step is VishishtAdvaita (qualified non-dualism) and the third step is Advaita (non-dualism) (final state of experience). all three complement each other but do not oppose.
Interesting.. what stage are you in right now? I'm a beginner in the journey. I've started off with Buddha's Vipassana which is very similar to Shankar's Advaita.
