I absolutely understand! Because I used to feel that way walking up to a Chanel counter too! And I want to change that. I want to make Chanel products more widely known and more mainstream (something I actually mentioned in my interview) and I want to make videos to help familiarize everyone with these products as well. My process is totally different from your experience. I literally applied on Indeed, received an email regarding my application with an assessment attached. Upon completion of the assessment, about 2 days later, I received another email stating that I could come in for a hiring event between the hours of 10am-6pm. Hopefully everything plays out well for me. Thank you for this video, very informative...I’m going for the Chanel Beauty Counter Manager position. *Fingers Crossed*

Hiring was so much easier when I got hired in summer of 1988. I got a summer job at Bullocks. I just applied, interviewed with the manager and was hired.

Just had a question, does Nordstrom pay a hourly rate plus commission or is it mostly commission based?
My progress is taking ages. 1,5 week ago I did a video question interview but I didn't hear anything at all from them. What does this mean, that they don't have interest in me? I'm dying.

The reason I did not want to be in the Beauty Industry is honestly because people ( women ) that I have worked with in the past have this thought process that they want to be better than others ( me ) and push me out of the way because they felt they deserved it more !
Why can't ( Minding your own journey and business ) be a popular thing other than trying to knock others down ?
Putting someone else down is not going to make that person a better person, the new people can teach or bring something to the brand that is not already there.
I gave up my dream job after 12 years because of this, the bullying and just the fact that I would try my hardest to get with this certain brand and for the life of me I could not figure out why I was not that brand's cup of tea. I would study harder, change my look, get tips online about makeup application and skincare.
I got over it and now I am taking the technical route.
But thanks for sharing your experiences.

Crazy how we just hired someone for our Chanel counter with no beauty industry experience or even customer service experience...

I’m studying to become a clinical pharmacist and I want to work with Chanel. Does anyone have any idea about this? Do they hire us, I mean they have a lot of products coming out every year so maybe they do? How much do they pay? How do I apply? What qualification is required?
i have a question, y'all sales always emphasise the importance of building a relationship with customers in this field yet most of the retail sales are so judgmental that they simply just ignore certain customers. I have seen people complaining from all age groups about this, what do you think about this?
I wanted to ask what the perks are for working at the Chanel sales counter? Is your employee discount just for Chanel, or for all of Nordstrom? Do they provide you with sample products so you know how they work before you sell them?
My specific employee discount is for Nordstrom in general because I work for the company :) Also, they definitely encourage you to test and try the products so you can properly explain and sell to customers

I'm actually an employee at Nordstrom, so our perks are definitely different.

It really depends on where and what position you applied for...
If you applied for a position in Dubai then I'm sure you'll be fine. However, if you're applying for a position that would require you to be in the United States, I'm not sure how that would work out.

However Beauty is my thing! I love all about cosmetics, beauty… all that business! I have this passion! Hi, I checked again, they did not include a link in my email tho. The whole email just says I will get a phone call interview for retail sales and they will call me within two hours of time I selected for my phone interview. The second bullet point just says I will receive a call from a 1-855 Nordstrom number that's it. Am I suppose to call them then? Thank you so much for answering!
Then you can go onto your Nordstrom career profile that you created and there should be a section for "upcoming interviews". You're supposed to select a good time slot for them to call you online :) how weird, usually they include the link in your email. Sometimes it'll say "select you appointment here" and the "here" is underlined and if you click on it, it'll take you to the website.
I have the exact same problem, and I don't see an 'upcoming interviews' section on my profile :((((

There will be an attached link in the email that redirects you to the page that allows you to make the time selections for the phone interview

That's a great question hon! Honestly I haven't heard anyone getting turned down because of skin conditions. However, I don't see why any skin condition should be an issue with the hiring process :) I would definitely encourage you to apply!

Don't be nervous! Just keep customer service in mind! Nordstrom really values customer service so that's what their questions are going to focus on predominantly. Things like "why do you want to work here?", "have you ever had a difficult customer and how did you deal with it?" Good luck! And thank you so much for watching!

What did the training consist of?
It was three days of training where they explain to you the inner workings of Nordstrom, register training, and shadowing :)

Random request...but I see a lot of people who get "vip gifts from chanel" could you explain how people get these? maybe a video on that or a video on what you get as an employee (benefits, gifts, etc). not trying to be nosy just interested! :)
No worries! Totallyyyyy understandable lol however, I can't disclose the employee benefits just yet, just because I can potentially get in trouble with the company. However, if/when I depart from the company, trust me, I will HAPPILY spill the tea lol
In regards to the "vip" gifts from Chanel, it's quite dependent on where the customer shops. Gifts given from the Chanel boutique differs from the gifts given at a counter. It even varies from department store. For example a Saks gift can be different from a Nordstrom one. A lot of times Chanel will hold a special event where customers are invited to attend. If they spend over a certain dollar amount, they are given a token of appreciation for attending and spending with Chanel. These events can range from makeup events with special makeup artists from Chanel will come for the day for makeovers, skincare master classes where aestheticians from Chanel come for the day and teach class on Chanel skincare and special massage and application techniques, or spa events where customers can come and receive Chanel curated facials. A lot to read, i know loll but I hope this answers your question! Thank you so much for your comment!
I passed my phone interview and got an in person interview. I'm wondering if colored hair is exceptible as business casual? Also would a suit be too much?
Congrats! Colored hair is ok depending on which company you're applying for. I know Chanel is pretty strict on hair so we're limited to having "natural" hair colors only. Basically any color that can grow naturally is acceptable. But I know other companies like Khiels and Fresh don't mind more creative hair colors. I don't think a suit would be too much, but a suit is definitely not necessary. I wore a blazer, a blouse, and black pants. Just look presentable. Good luck hon!

Your pay and hours are variable depending on circumstance, experience, and the position that you apply for :) everybody is different
Would this apply for Macy’s and Chanel ?
I'm sure they ask very similar questions in terms of your proclivity for the brand and your affinity for customer service, but using these methods won't guarantee you a foot in the door.

Why would you have to provide your social security if you haven't been hired yet? I'm told it is illegal for them to even ask for it until you get hired.
It was just one of those things that I had to fill out. I've had to provide this information at other jobs on the application as well. But then again I could also be remembering incorrectly :)

Ugh, I hope I'm not too late in answering this, but you can always say that you've been thankful enough to have never faced too difficult of a situation. However, in the case of a tough situation, you will always use your best judgement and put customer service and pleasing the customer first.
