  • Video clips from a recent visit to Prague. There's so much music in this city -- much of it performed by street musicians.
This video was made from several different days on the bridge -- I never knew what to expect from one day to the next. What sounds like thunder during the violin solo is just gusts of wind, amplified by the condenser mike. (Oh, don't miss the "commercial" for his CD at the end of his piece!) The incredible blues trio is led by vocalist Matej Ptaszek.
Greetings to many of the congenial people I met in Prague, including Fiona & Richard, and Rupert & Uli. You made my visit infinitely more memorable!
More music from Prague to come.

It is called a Frankentuba - a one-off, made by the owner or a horn builder.

Sorry, but don't the buskers there ever play any Czech music? Never heard any in all of my visits.
Prague ain't New Orleans or the Mississippi.

Classic Czech music. Czech man Jaro Cimrmann met Luis Daniel Armstrong during a visit to New Orleans and taught him to play Jazz

Hauberová a to ještě nevíš, že Jára Cimrmann byl první člověk, co přistál na měsíci. Však Jules Verne podle něj napsal knihu.

American blues and jazz helped create The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Fairport Convention, etc. Music is a blend of old and new. When it's played well it's good music to enjoy. The Bridge Band plays great music. There are musicians in Praha that play traditional Czech music, too. Ask around and you'll find just what you're looking for.

@@namcat53 Well, I'm a massive fan of trad jazz, which is rarely listened to even by most jazz fans (exclusively 'modernists' the lot of them). What I'm saying is why is there a need to look in some hidden location for some Czech music when visiting Prague. Anyway, since I can't visit the city, I'll just use the Internet to check out some music - Plastic People of the Universe anyone..
