  • Officially been a year since supercharging!
Still totally reliable and shockingly fuel efficient.
11k miles, and 9 racing events, since install, so much fun having the power that this car always deserved IMO

    ATTENTION MAZDA OWNERS !!!
In case you are not aware ( because it was not advertised) there was a call back on Gen 3 and Gen 4 2.5 for premature failure of the vacume pump / brake booster. The problem was that they used a rubber seal that would fail due to contact with the engine oil / fuel . My 2015 is a used Mazda 6 Gt and I was lucky I chose to remove my intake manifold ( to check on carbon buildup) and found almost 8 ounces of motor oil.
I believe Mazda swapped out the rubber for silicone seals but the wiper blade ends wear down as well so you eventually will get oil going through the vent hose into the intake.
If you do have it run through an oil / air separator you will notice a lot of oil that before took 1000’s of km/ miles before the same amount.
A failed brake booster can lengthen your stopping distance.
As far as I have discovered the vacume pump itself is a dealership part and is covered by the call back .
You can find the PDF online about the callback .

So just a quick question for all the mechanics out there. The naturally aspirated 2.0l fourbanger has a very high compression by stock. How do you change that with the supercharger kit? I know you cant run the same compression with a compressionkit. Im thinking about turboing my 2014 skyactiv g165 MZ3 for easy power

    • @M6Ninja
      @M6Ninja  Před rokem +4

Actually the mechanical CR is a non-issue, because it leaves the intake valves open at the beginning of the compression stroke to control the effective compression ratio.
Just replace the intake manifold with the compressor, and boom 50-60% more air flow!
the kit for the 2.0L uses a 0.75L compressor whereas the kit for the 2.5L uses a 0.9L compressor
Even when going to a smaller pulley there is no need to open/change any internals of the motor.
With more than 50 of us running these kits, in various states of tune, there are still zero incidents of failed engines, these Skyactiv engines are really strong

    • @M6Ninja

Two things, 1) I dropped the transmission pan, replaced the filter, and most of the fluid, which definitely helped with smoothness & quickness of shifts (ignore the claims of "lifetime fluid")
      2) My tuner actually found ways to improve the tightness/quickness of the automatic transmission shifting, so it never feels like it lags any more, plus having the supercharger means I basically always have torque, it's a lovely package, so many smiles per gallon :)

Just replaced the heavy giant muffler with a Thrush turbo muffler, replaced the spark plugs with 1 step colder plugs made for Nissan GT-R, also added an oil cooler (not necessary unless you take it racing like I do).
Note: the stock headers on these engines are so good that it's not worth changing, as most aftermarket headers will lose torque across a lot of the rpm range.
Doesn't really need any supporting mods, just switch to the colder plugs and get it tuned (highly recommend Justin form MazdaSauceTuning@gmail.com)
