    Definitely one of my favorites this year. That first sip gave me that “Oh sh*t” moment. Out of the Master Keeps, I put this just ahead of Decades. The nose alone on this is incredible.

    I'm so glad you were able to pick this up. Already my favorite release of 2020 so far. I'm not one to pay over $100 for a bottle of bourbon, this one is absolutely the best $180 I've ever spent on bourbon. I can't wait to share it with friends. Cheers!

    Not sure if you will see this. Just scored me a bottle today from Sams Club for $157. I have been looking forever and always the same thing.....came and went the same day. Just goes to show....never give up the hunt or hope! Can’t wait to crack this one open. Sounds amazing. I have a Russell’s Reserve Camp Nelson warehouse F as well waiting to be opened! And last but not least.... it has been a very good couple of weeks.....I picked up Cream of Kentucky batch 4 at Kroger’s for $139. Another one I can’t wait to open! As always a great review. It is what got me hunting this bottle. Thanks for all the great information and always appreciate the nose and tasting notes. Cheers!!!!🥃

      The Mash and Drum Thanks Jason. Also, I used your review on Remus III to get a bottle for my friend on his 20th wedding anniversary. He opened it today and said it was outstanding! Once again you did not steer me wrong. Thank you! Have you tried the Cream of Kentucky batch 4 yet and if so what are your thoughts?

    I, too, had some concerns about the 100 proof, but the flavor it packs into 100 proof is incredible. I bought one bottle out of three on the shelf. Went home, tasted it, loved it... went back and they were sold out! I have since run down a couple more bottles. It is my definite favorite of the year. Winter is coming and should bring some good releases, but this liquid will be hard to beat.
    Great review! Your notes were almost identical to Fred Minnick's. He said it tasted like McDonald's fried cherry pie. You said cherry pie and funnel cake. I don't get that pastry element that both of you guys got, but I love cherry notes in a bourbon and this one doesn't disappoint. It is my ideal flavor profile. Thanks for the review!

    • @TheMashandDrum
      @TheMashandDrum  Před 4 lety

      Appreciate that thanks. I think the fried dough is that smoke note more or less from the barrel char. At 100 proof it's perfect. Love this bourbon. Cheers.

    Hey brother, I don't hear many people talking about this fact..this entered the barrel at 107 proof..they're at 115 now. That's why it has such ana amazing mouthfeel and finish.

    I just got a hold of one of these, and all I can say is wow. The flavors are so rich and you’re right, the proof point is not an issue at all, fantastic at 100. I put this in the way back of the pantry, only to come out on special occasions.

    Wanted to make a follow-up post after trying this... Holy hell is this delicious. You’re definitely right about the Luxardo cherry notes! I noticed after letting this sit and air out for a while, the flavors really evolved and became so damn rich. The smoke note really came out, and reminded me of an old dusty library (which is a very nostalgic note for me).
    Was blown away with this bottle, and glad I picked up two. Thanks again for the great review. Hope to see this in your top 5 bottles for 2020. Cheers!

    Finally a review where someone else got that smoke note! Haha! It’s really delicate and clove like. It’s absolutely fantastic. That smoke and clove mixed with that amazing cherry pie note make this one hell of a bourbon and the uniqueness of the palate take it over the top for me. The more I drink it the more it’s becoming one of my favorite bourbons. Great review! Cheers!

    Fantastic spot on review Jason! This bottle far exceeded my expectations and to me Wild Turkey never disappoints with the Master's Keep releases. I will say this one is the best yet! I was a little worried about too much oak presence but the amount of oak and sweetness and the distinct flavors balance it and it is a perfect amount of oak and smoke! And I agree--the nose is spectacular! It is definitely worth "The Hunt! BTW--your film work did this one justice-- Amazingly beautiful! Great job!

      Even at 100 proof there aren't many 17 year old bourbons priced under 200 bucks. The 100 I don't think hurts it. It has a ton of flavor. Not a long finish but definitely a complex one.
