Actually she was popular in Japan in the 80s.
Before any other person comes and say stuff out of nowhere, my first comment was about how she was seen across the net years ago, long before tiktok even existed. I know she was famous but she wasn't the typical 80s pop idol, she attempted suic*** twice and her sister sadly did it cause Kyoko was a very talented person too, her father didn't wanted her to be an idol either, that's why I'm happy she's having the recognition she deserves, she was ahead of her time and is one of my idols (sorry for engrish, my first language is Japanese)

Apparently it didn't have much influence to the creation of the yandere trope as far as i know. Yukako Yamagishi from JJBA is considered to be the first yandere and pretty much what started the yandere trope.

if y'all really like Jun Togawa and the way her voice sounds, you night also really like Hana-tan. She was collaborating with Kikuo for a while, so some of the songs were pretty dark. She changes her voice in earlier works from higher pitched and thinner to lower, deeper, and a lot like the back vocals in the chorus of Suki Suki Daisuki. Would definitely recommend her as she's an amazing artist!

My love for those characters seemed to only be able to be expressed through violent fantasies. I don’t know why, but there was something so fascinating-hell, EXCITING about imagining them in pain. i'm very impressed of how the music she made was beyond it's time. all of this at a time when experimental music wasn't that big and not a lot of people could understand the appeal of it, i'm glad it eventually became recognised as much!
