That's why I like Yaks: they're a mix of energy and turn fights, also Yak-3 do be kinda cute
Same, I was mostly climbing an Boom and Zooming in the Yak-3 since I found that play style more enjoyable (also why I started Germany, might also try 'Murica), hopefully this will help me win Stalin's forgiveness, or at the least shorter gulag time.
@@beezyo3042 same to be honest, I really enjoy Yak-3, but I'm a sucker for a good turnfight, so I've been more into Spitfires recently, I find F Mk.IX the most interesting (earlier ones are easier + aesthetics of Mk.IX just hit the spot for me)

*Laughs in Wyvern*
Every time I play the Yak, there always is someone complaining on how a wooden plane bested them.
Spitfire shot my yak 3 and the wing was on fire. He left me and probably assumed i would crash. Fire died out and he did a good amount of damage on my wing (lost my aileron and flap). Still managed to fly back to the base safe. I swear the Yak's wooden material is so different lmao
just like the luftwaffe back in 1943-44-45
Even the French Yak 3 can send people to gulag, somehow bypassing 2 nations borders
I mean the french *did* bypass the borders to help soviets send people to Gulag
It's a reference to the Normandie-Niemen squadron, French fighter pilots who served on the Eastern Front. They considered the Yak-3 to be superior to both Spitfire and the P-51D Mustang. They were allowed to keep the planes they flew, and Yak-3 was used by the French Air Force post-WW2.

Then start grinding for it, you definetly won't regret it. You won't get too much kills with it, as it has rather low ammo, unless you're pretty accurate, but it's a joy to fly. From the flight charasteristics, it's my favorite plane in the whole game.

"Pretend you are a idiot"
I only played ground force until this month. I don't need to act like a scrub
I played with you and you absolutely stomped my team in this glorious piece of soviet engineering
Fun fact - when doing turns or loops at speeds around 250 km/hr don't be afraid to use your landing flaps . Tap your flaps since it only allows landing position by default . Using it allows you to turn your nose around at an alarming rate which helps when engaging vs turn fighters. Never keep them deployed as they create a ton of drag plus they rip really easily.
Spacecat:has a good intro*
Me who only watches "how to" jonman: perhaps I treated you to harshely
Honestly, after flying the french yak 3 the best strategy I have is to never climb above 3000m and be generally aggressive. You rush the enemy at around 2000, if there's some poor fucker flying low you kill it, if there's no one keep going until the enemy see you and try to bait them into following you down to the deck where you have better performance. This gives your team a n altitude advantage assuming they know what you're doing and prepare accordingly.
The great thing about the yak-3 is that you outrun in a straight line anything you don't out turn. So if you're fighting americans and germans you force them into a turn fight. If it's Japanese and British bnz in a straight line since you have great acceleration.
The only gripes I have with the plane are that the guns are inconsistent with low ammo counts, meaning groundpounding is hard and bomber hunting inadvisable, and it doesn't like to dive, it red lines at 650kph and it reaches that mark quickly.
Other than that it's pretty good at air superiority.
Well said

Omfg, that intro was sick! and the rest is just hilarious xD Make more of these pls, seriously!
You forgot to mention something pretty important for players unfamiliar with soviet planes, what's in my opinion the only major drawback this plane has:
It's rip speed.
The Yak-3 has a damn good acceleration and when diving on an opponent, you can get uncomfortable close the wing snap speed of a bit over 700km/h in a matter of seconds. It hasn't killed me yet, but I saw enough players breaking this little bias machine because of that.
Good vid tho, as always.
The VK version rips at 640, it's annoying to bail on the attack all the time
@@alfredconqueror4422 685 km/h IAS rip speed for earlier wooden Yak-3 models, 720 km/h for Yak-3 VK, perhaps Yak-3U too, but I haven't flown it yet
man i always die like that
I remember trying to play the Yak line back when cannons got their massive buff (for everything but the ShVak and Hispano it felt) and it was horrible. Always had 2 109s diving on you, and if even one of them hit your plane with one cannon, it would disintegrate around you.
I think I might go back and give it another go.
Ground RB is where it's OP af. Low altitude fighting
How it is going? Still playin?
A seriously underrated CZcamsr. Keep the epic content coming!
- No WEP
- Low ammo count
- Axis teams dominating every single game
Why the heck would you even want to play soviet planes
@PoofyPandaZzz poofy you sound like you climb for the entire match, too afraid to get any kills then go onto complain about German guns or the Jumbo. Oh wait iTs nEvEr yOuR faUlt
Don't forget you'll fight the japanese at 4.3 which outclimb, outturn, and outgun you and your *only choice is running away* :)
You don’t need wep since yaks have amazing acceleration. Low ammo count is negligible since you usually have cannons which shred planes in a single burst, if you have good aim that is. Eh? The only Axis nation that I have a hard time dealing with are Japanese. G55s, 109s, and 190s aren’t a problem unless 5 of them decide to gangbang you.
I’d say soviet planes are one of the best planes out there.

In yaks climb and then pick off enemies at your altitude then if someone is behind you run away and gain energy then once you have enough turn into them and get on there 6 and kill
Spacecat I love your videos, especially the more recent ones they've gotten alot better! One piece of advice about the belts, Soviet he rounds are the worst in the game and the FIT has more filler than the HE shell. So the best belt for 20s is default belt. And if you wanna really cause maximum damage 400m convergence default on the 20 and stealth on the 12.7s. Instant fire to any plane you touch : )
Edit the reason why default belt is better than tracer belt is because the API 20s are really good at setting fires and they have better penetration at sharp angles than the FIT she'll. So with the default belt you get the best of both worlds good pen at angles with high fire chance and most explosive filler.
I love your edits so much man, your videos have helped me a lot in war thunder an have brought me so much laughter. Thank you so much man 🙏💯

tracer belt is better for ShVak cannons, the fragmention rounds have more explosive mass than the HE rounds

Ah yes the plane that singlehandedly brought down 4 bf-109 and a g55s at the same time for me.
My favorite plane
Yaks are the breakfast for my P-38, I always over climb them, so if your a yak pilot, avoid us, unless your skills
Pfff, P-38 is one of the easiest thing to evade it's attacks.
Now instead of Stalin putting me in a forced labour camp I will put him in one HAHAHAHAHHA
The yak uses vodka for water cooling, it runs on Adidas instead of fuel, and it uses replaces normie steel bullets with Stalinium missiles that tear a plane to shreds on Impact, the pilots can be so drunk that they put out fires with vodka.
right now the best belts to use seem to be tracers in 12.7mm’s and default in 20mm, they are much more consistent and lethal compared to the 12.7mm air targets/20mm ground targets belts
I enjoy Yaks they simmer nicely when I shoot them down in my Ki 84
Great video, intro editing was godlike.
the 9 dislikes are from the american players who thought a burning yak is a dead yak then gets into a turnfight and dies

That first song, I haven’t listened to in so long oh mah gosh pogggggggg
Idk why they say it has good agility, mine turns like a school bus with no wheels
"refuse to die" are we playing different yaks mine call apart like the Italian army in ww2
I played the yak 3 a lot, and read many stuff about it, In real life the yak 3 was really op, one of the best airplanes in ww2.
The germans feared it so much they said all dogfighter low than 4000m(estern front) shouldnt be bc all geman planes would be in a disadvantage (especially bc of the yak 3) .
I outturned all planes except of spitfires, all Japanese planes and g55. Ammo and fuel been the only disadvantage en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-3
Fuel disadvantage is questionable, the range was farther than 109's or Spitfire's, leaving La's behind, but the patrolling time was slightly lower, unless pilots flew on economic cruiser mode
You have convinced me to grind to the Yak-3's. Good thing im like 1 plane away from getting one lol
Same
But I am lacking silver lions
Yak 3 is probably my favorite plane in the game. It is extremely versitile and flexible for any situation.
It can evade, it can turn, it is responsive, good aceleration and very good 20mm cannons. Yes, i said it. As a german player the russian 20mm are better than the german one. It sounds like madness but while the 20mm the germans have is very powerful, it has a very slow rate of fire. Multiple times i have the feeling that the enemy just passes through the shells... The Shvak cannon although is less damaging, it fires like a machine gun. From there on it's rng, one shell might do no damage but in other cases one shell is all you need to rip a wing.
The low ammunition i like as well. It teaches the player to aim better and honestly when i fire the 2x50.cals and the single cannon i have the feeling that i am like a bee. Death by multiple stings.
Yak-3 was originally called Yak-1M for "Modified" or "Mosquito", so yeah, the small stinging annoyance is what Yakovlev aimed for when finishing the project.
Imo the yak 3p has tons of ammo I take into ground rib and I can normally get 3 kills in the air.
Spacecat when are we going to see full length versions of these dope ass intro montages
Also I should say the other good ammo setup is *Ground for 12,7mm and Standart for 20mm*
HE's in soviet 20mms suck, so with the cannon you can only hope for FI-T and API, which actually damage nicely if you hit.
The definition of russian bias
me: okay this is helpful I'm gonna try
*passes out while engaging on an enemy and gets shot down*
I swear my pilot passes out all the time in this thing

Edit: 100 octane fuel? So Russian vodka then...

FAQ
What does this mean?
The amount of likes (points) on your video has increased by one.
Why did you do this?
There are several reasons I may deem a video to be worthy of positive or neutral feedback. These include, but are not limited to:
Niceness towards other CZcamsrs,
Spreading correct information,
Aesthetically pleasing facial hair.
Am I banned from the CZcams?
No - hopefully never. In fact, you should keep making videos like this in the future. Otherwise I will be forced to issue a dislike, which may put your uploading and commenting privileges in jeopardy.
I don't believe my video deserved a like. Can you dislike it?
Sure, mistakes happen. But only in exceedingly rare circumstances will I undo a like. If you would like to issue an appeal, shoot me a private message explaining what I got wrong. I tend to respond to Discord PMs within several minutes. Do note, however, that over 99.9% of like appeals are rejected, and yours is likely no exception.
How can I ensure this keeps happening in the future?
Accept the like and move on. But learn from this triumph: your behavior will be tolerated on CZcams.com. I will continue to issue likes if you keep your current conduct. Remember: CZcams is privilege, not a right.

When I fly out in the russians, I usually use stealth on the 20's because the .50's and 7.7's last longer and also mo o' dem juicy HEF shells.
Wtf this guides actually work
I swear this plane it's an absolute monster at low altitude
Idk i have really bad problems with the yak-3 line. Every plane outturns me and the cannons cant hit shit. Maybe i just dont understand the energy thing
I like the yak3 but I seem to struggle a lot with Yak3u for some reason, cant for the life of me get the hang of it lol
It's a plane to bait impatient boom and zoomers. They all ignore the part where B&Z doctrine says if your first pass fails extend and climb and try again. Or find a more opportune target. If they did that the Yak pilots would bleed energy and altitude trying to bait them. It requires patience and team play. Precisely everything you won't see in warthunder who's player base is about as patient and coordinated as a drunk pug with the zoomies.
Yak pilots are always head empty no thoughts
Very nice guide, comrade ;)

The Original terror of the skies pre G.55
Finally, someone who uses fuckin Vy instead of ""angle of climb""
Mega respect whenever I fight these fuckers. But then again, facing a plane that was more than competitive in 1944 in a 109F4, which is a 1942 aircraft, kinda makes this plane OP as fuck.
F4 has more chances, than G-series, because they is a flying logs
I feel that Your ammo choice, while good, may not be the best choice for the Yak's. This is IMO, the best ammo choice:
12.7mm:
I load Tracer belt for the 12.7mm as it is pure API-t, the IAI in the Air target belt seems to do less damage.
20mm
For the 20mm I (again) load Tracer belts, which have only FI-t, Tracer seems to do the most consistence damage since the ShVak cannon (and all cannons using the 20x99mmR case) don't have large enough (volume) shells to really make HE shells worth while
Benefit of this Ammo choice
Having pure tracer also gives the benefit of not needing to fire as many rounds to understand where your shells are heading, very useful on an aircraft that has the ammo capacity of a revolver.
Side note
Loading FI-t in the BI rocket plane is a must, since you only get 45 rounds per cannon. This is how I discovered the killing capability of FI-t over other belt choices.
I disagree. Used to fly with Tracers too, but overall the Standart is better all-around due to FI-T being less effecrive from the six. Although in Yaks using Tracer is fair enough thanks to UBS filling the API role, in other planes, especially only-ShVAK ones, using standart will save you ammo when attacking from the six.
1/2 tracers filling is perfect too, due to ShVAKs even tap-shooting at least 2 shells, so you'll see the tracers all the time.
For UBS my personal fav is the Ground, but it's down to personal preferences
One of my favourite planes!
