This is dishonest reporting. I am an icelander and I can tell you that there is no rise in racism. What we are seeing however is a small nation trying to help solve the refugee crisis and finding out the dowsides of it. If you would really look into the history you would see that Iceland's borders have never been so open. And by the way, racism is built on the idea that one race is superior to another. All that the people there were pointing out is that some immigrants are not integrating into society. That is damaging to them and the society. We do have the right to our borders and to choose the people we invite in. And if you attack that right you are attacking our right to national sovereignty.
    Good day to you.

There are Muslims who are religious but abide by the laws of the land unlike those who make it a business and try breaking a well developed system. Why can't "liberalism" be practiced in middle east, why cant other religions live freely and practice their traditions when nations like Saudi, Kuwait have restrictions. Why is it Christain, Buddhist or Hindu majority need to regard Islam laws when many can coexist. Iran, Turkey, afghanistan were once secular and much modern than the west with better economy once upon a time, that all broke when radicals took over and made everyone force to follow traditions. Honestly I lived in many countries in Europe and trust me if there's a tolerant country somewhere it's definitely Iceland. It's the country with the most open-minded and respectful culture towards foreigners I've ever seen. Sure, there will always be racism but don't make this country appear as something it's not. I believe they just care about their own traditional culture as it's a small country and they value their own identity (a bit like the Netherlands). But they'll always be grateful for anyone to bring something positive no matter where you come from.

Racism = white (hence you can't be racist towards whites).
Conversely, anti-racism = anti-white (hence any anti-racism policy specifically targets whites & works to dispossess & disenfranchise them in their own nations).

Coqui Castro As a gay man who has lived in many Muslim countries over my lifetime, I can say I understand what true prejudice and discrimination looks like. If you move to Iceland (a country which overwhelmingly supports gay and womens rights and is not racist), I suggest you rethink your ideology and leave it at the door or keep it personal before you come (and don’t convert people to Islam by using emotional tactics, try to prove it to yourself with evidence before doing any kind of converting of others as it can ruin lives). Don’t try to change the laws or remain silent when you see fellow muslims trying to do the same. The Qur'an, the hadiths, and Muhammed all discourage dissent against Islam even when it as a religion deserves an overwhelming amount of criticism. Gays are treated badly by a lot of the world, but so are Muslims. So I recognise you are an individual and should be treated as one. Don’t mistake anything I am saying as hatred of you, rather I am abhorantly intolerant of the intolerant hateful ideology taught by the Qur’an and hadiths. Maybe that makes you feel upset I feel this way but how I have been treated because Islam is much more upsetting. Some may say that is not the true Islam but I beg to differ and ask any Muslim who says that to open the Qur’an and read the hadiths and see what the true Islam is. Don’t listen to Sheikhs who are realigious dogmatic extremists arbitrarily appointed in high postions to brainwash each new generation. View the scriptures yourself. You as a person are not responsible for what I have been through. I blame the realigious zealots. and I am not telling you I know what you believe regarding Islam. But I can only ask you bring a peaceful attitude and don’t think for once you want to take my rights as a gay man away because it conflicts with unfounded, and immoral religious values coming from Islam (murtads, gays, trans, kuffar going to jahannam is obviously immoral). We can be friends as individuals. We can respect eachother as individuals. But I certainly hope you change your ideology if you respect me because it is at odds with respect for people like me (homosexuals) and humanity in general. If you respect my humanity, question the sheikhs about why gays or kuffar go to jahannam. Their reasons never justify their stances. I welcome you to go to whatever country you want. There are many people in Iceland who will accept you with open arms and will not judge you. For those who do judge you, don’t let it bring you down. They don’t know your life. They don’t know you as a person. Just know who you are and know you are a good person (assuming). In the end your actions will show that, whether they want to see it or not. Don’t take anything I said here negatively. Take it as contructive criticism from a friend who wants the best for you as a fellow human. I wish you the best in life. Peace.

Hahah how naive and ignorant could you possible be regarding those ‘solutions’😂.
European women, especially in Iceland actually have equal rights and excel professionally, thus cannot and do not have time many children. Having more children puts more pressure on our environment and resources too which is a huge issue in Iceland, recently having one of our ancient glaciers melting away.
We shouldn’t have to try compete in making children just to maintain OUR national, native demographical, cultural, historical existence in our OWN nation... that is absolutely absurd.
It is incredibly difficult to raise native populations too as it would take absolutely millions of new native Swedes to drown out the significance of the floods/influx of foreign migrants there. Not to mention we cannot advocate higher native birth rates as people like you would call it discriminatory😂.
WHY would anyone want to work longer?! Why should we work until our deaths for people who never should have been here in the first place, the mass economic migrants?
Our taxes are ALREADY some of the highest in the world and you’re advocating to increase them even more!! All to help fund you mass floods of economic migrants😂.
Nobody shuns any jobs here in Iceland as we have very high pay and welfare for all! My family are literally all farmers, I am the only one who went into higher education to do medicine. Thus, there is no job crisis that people need to fill; Iceland has one of the strictest immigration systems for a reason... we don’t need it! Any population shortages are either filled by our natural birth rates or by TEMPORARY work visas until enough Icelanders exist for the job shortage.
You want a solution instead of crying? If your people are so ‘good’ and ‘progressive’ demand arms and help to fight a revolution in your nation and make it great again. Look how beautiful places like Iran, Syria, etc, used to be before radical Islam, USA intervening, etc. Fight or campaign for it back.
You can’t though. Your people generally are too backwards and unwilling, you’d rather leach on us who have nothing to do with your issue. Instead our nations transform into the ghettos you ‘refugees’ left behind.

The problem is not Icelandic racism. Iceland is a tiny population, smaller than most European cities, and Muslim immigrants throughout the world are clearly seen as communities that (1) do not adapt to the local host culture and (2) have very large amounts of children which alter the demographics and replace indigenous cultures. This phenomenon is changing the face of many societies in Europe. But with Iceland's relatively tiny population, this is an even more immediate existential crisis. The Icelandic language and culture has changed relatively little for a thousand years. It would be a tragedy for the world's mosaic of multi-cultural mixture of people and languages for this culture to die out, and it would within a life-time if it opens its borders.

What makes it magical is it’s basic ethnic homogeneous population.
