Money facilitates, but the reason he gives his wife half and decides to move away, after also having given his friends money in hopes that it changes their life for the better, only to see it created problems for them, is because he recognizes that life is not so simple that you can solve _every_ problem with a financial transaction.

This is a horrible story. It's all superficial, nothing deep. You would think that for a character going through divorce, there would be some deep emotional trauma for him to overcome, but there's nothing in this movie.
