Robert Glasper is a musicial genius
are you on drugs?
And is!!
PERIODT!!!
You know it !
I actually believe he is the most transformational artist of the last 2 decades. Caught a glimpse of him after his second album at London's Ronnies Scott. There and then, he was going to win a Grammy. I remember chatting with him, Derrick Hodge, and Chris Dave at the Bar of that Club.
We really need the R&B Money playlist for all the guests' favorite songs
That would be dope asf.
👏👏👏 that would be a crazyyyyyy playlist!! 🙆🏽♀️ i feel like it’d have to be divided like: “top 5’s from episodes 1-10,” then 10-20, etc etc
Commenting to promote this comment! YES!
Love this idea
I watch the whole videos but I definitely skip ahead immediately to see their top fives first lol. Y'all should just do that, open a new tab and go save all their songs in a playlist........ like I do. 😂
I love to sing along with Tank’s “Top Five” 🤣🤣🤣 it’s a classic
He be hollering and I love it 😂😂😂😂❤
My favorite part every time 😂😂
When I first heard it I was like, 😐 Now I’m like 🤩… It grew on me. Lol 😂
For me it’s “I ain’t saying no names” 😅😅😂😂
Lihssen, we are all background and features on that! 😂
I love him calling out BET, cause that's actually crazyyyy! They invite everybody to the awards, not inviting Mr. Grasper is dead wrong.
I just died laughing at work when he said I'm Black BET
Misspelling his name is dead wrong too
@@lyndxnjoel6917😂😂😂
They always overlook the guys&gals that come from the jazz community.. Esperanza Spalding performs in Obama Noble Prize ceremony but gets overlooked by BET.
I hope this episode encourages people to actually support jazz musicians. They’re among the most brilliant musical minds walking this planet. Don’t let them struggle and allow only the less talented to get lit
Exactly! Rachelle Ferrell
@@avionterria7855 They don't know a damn thing about that damn woman, goddamn it. 😂
I love when artists give shout outs to their musicians. I’m always googling them to see what other projects they are on. I love true musicianship.

Bilal's 1st Album is AMAZING!!! EVERY SONG. NO SKIPS.
None!!!+
Yet another episode in the books. Mr. Glasper showed up way more than I could have ever imagined. He is an excellent story teller and his history is rich and long. He offered us so much today and I felt he could have gone on for even more time. What an incredible episode. His IASNN is top tier too! Thank you @R&B Money Podcast. See y’all next week 💸🫶🏾
This episode is perfect!!! And I love when J. sings 🎶Tyreeesssee, yeaaaa🎶 😂😂😂

Robert Glasper is not only super talented, but F’kn hilarious! And Tank’s skin is glowing this episode!
The Super First Grade story made me weep in joy😂. Y'all really uplift my Saturdays. My favorite music genre is alive and well and I appreciate you all for this. ❤
😂😂😂
The more he explained it went up in smoke really fast. I flat lined. 😅
When I tell you I laughed until I was weeping tears 😂😂😂 my word today it was hilarious!!

This episode was VERY refreshing and needed. Put some respect on Rob’s name. Very humble and deserving. I’m glad that he seemed to have fun while giving his accolades. Well done.
Robert Glasper is so talented! He is the musical Quincy Jones of our times. His catalog is amazing. He is one of my favorites.
Yes ,he is All that and then some.
Man…the way Robert said with a straight face “My mama told me it was super first grade” took me out! Hilarious!
This was one of the funniest episodes.
1. Steve Harvey suits
2. Super First Grade
He’s right about Bilal and Lalah. Anytime they come to Atlanta, I get tix. I will never miss their shows when the opportunity arises.
Robert Glasper is that Dude.... As a musician/ Keyboardist myself, I love his music.
That Voltron!!!! I'm done. Done. If you guys ever decide to do a completely technical educational class, bring this man back. He's got something to give to the community.
The silence and blink Tank had when Mr. Glasper asked to be invited to the BET Awards was hilarious. 😂😂😂😂
I love when J Valentine tries to clarify "church" things. "He was a healer"? 🤣🤣🤣
This comment 💀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He really be trying to understand.... I think it's great ..lol
Ledisi is the truth her voice magical they need to get her on the pod. As well as Chrisette Michelle her voice is beyond great !!!
Y’all never disappoint!!! There needs to be an R&B money podcast album set with all these great singers musicians producers, sing writers together!!
Ooooooooo. That is an idea!
Dope idea!
That would be so lit! 🔥🎆🧨
Sheesh!!
There's a difference between your passion, hobby, and gift. I had to pause & rewind because that's a bar! Robert Glasper, yes, sir 👏 🙌🏾
Robert Glasper! This guy is one of the greatest musicians of my generation! Have seen him numerous times!
It took Robert Glasper for Bilal to get his flowers!! THANK YOU..
Musiq Soulchild did it in his episode 😉
You know why I love this pod? Not only is it about one of my favourite genres, but it also puts me onto new people (new to me). The beauty of being a 90’s born is that I got a good musical upbringing, however there are a lot of artists, producers & songs that I just don’t know.
No when Robert said “ooooh that’s nice and out of tune” I lost it bc I was already losing it from super 1st grade 😂😂😂😂😂
And his top 5 and voltron in the top 5 of top fives 🔥
Yes!!!
Lmbo I dont know if they caught that or not! I was tickled loool
Sick Voltron! Funniest “I Ain’t Saying No Names” yet. 😂
This is so great y’all. I’m coming off the Mr. Johnny Gill episode straight to this & my heart is just so full ❤ thank y’all for sharing this with us.
Every name he said needs to also be on this show...🤯! ❤
Black Radio 1 is such a classic album!! Love Robert Glasper 🤍
BR is a gem!
B Cox is a real one for sure !
I’m with Rob on this one, Tank’s version of “Can’t Make You Love Me” is THEE best cover. Like nobody needs to try it at this point 😂
Robert glasper is so underrated. This man is 🔥🔥🔥🔥his Skills as a musician and his personality is so loving and humble. I had the pleasure of seeing this man perform live several times and meeting him backstage.
A man of all music!! Loving the laughter between everyone. The jabs are non stop. His Top 5 is going to be GREAT!
Finally!! Lalah is in the top five!! Always wondered how no one else could mention her!!! She's one of the greatest!
Nobody ever says Aretha😳
@@user-lh6xd1bv9x I recall Aretha being mentioned at least once
@ChrisetteMignott I'm always like come on now Aretha is up there with Stevie as far as female rnb vocalists as well as Beyonce
Father and daughter in the top 5. 🙌🏾
As a keyboardist who sees Robert Glasper as a huge inspiration, I was grinning the entire time watching this 😁😁😁. Great interview!
He’s not lying.. Doc Morgan use to crack that whip on us studying jazz at HSPVA. We had to be ON IT with music theory, ear training and reading charts. By the time I went to college, I already knew everything they were teaching vs others who didn’t go to a performing and visual arts high school.. so I was like, 🥱😴 my first year.. #Respectfully 🎼
“There he go with his bullsht 😂 .” It’s the interconnectedness, full circle, dedication to the craft and evidence being of the chosen for me! J with his witty comments too
This episode was a Master Class.

This was a great interview. I was not familiar with Robert Glasper and it was still a great watch. They should absolutely do an episode of the podcast at the festival and have the guest be one of the artists performing there.
Caught the last 30 minutes of the premiere. I enjoyed every second! Gotta watch from the beginning. Robert Glasper is the 🐐🐐🐐. “Super 1st grade!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Whoa! Perfect move having Rob on the pod! You get to hear what really goes on with the people who shape the artist we listen to. Awesome! This Pod is definitely from a musician's POV and not the final package that the industry wants you to hear and see.
That mane said and I’m also gonna try to get Reggie Bush his Heisman back 😂😂😂
Yes! Respectfully, next up we need Toni Braxton, Jill Scott, SIR, Tweet, Sisqo, Jazmine Sullivan and Brandy!!

This was a great episode …Robert Glasper is truly a GOAT
That was everything and then some! Grown folks, professional r&b....wow! Robert is the man! Thank you r&b money for understanding the value of having somebody of this caliber on the podcast! It's levels to this thing and he just gave a master class! ❤❤❤
53:44 *folds arms* “Is that a strip club? Sounds like one.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was nodding after every artist he mentioned for his Voltron...and Earth, Wind & Fire as the musical director literally took my breath away! I mean, could you imagine! Robert Glasper is just an amazing talent 👏Tank and J Valentine, seriously, thank you for bringing this podcast to the world. It brings me so much joy ❤
I just want to say, "whhhhyyyyy"😂😂😂😂 with the shenanigans at the end. And thank you for such a smooth and insightful conversation. 👏🏾
Black Radio was my SHIT in high school. I wore that album OUT 😩
Same!!!
Bilal's live version of Reminisce with a full Orchestra behind him is absolutely bananas!
I’m rolling 😂😂😂😂 Super 1st grade is GOLD
Robert Glasper is truly the vibe. He is a one man music machine and yes indeed I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I was transfixed from the beginning of the Pod to the last second. Thank you so much guys for an amazing music masterclass. Much appreciated.
I can't wait for Luther Vandross doc! Lord I will be in full blown tears watching.
I reallyyyyyyy love how I ALWAYS get a real hearty laugh from watching y’all. I hope y’all know how many days y’all have lighten and taught.
I love this episode. This one and the episode with J literally made me have a loud ignorant outbursts in my office. I will never get over "super first grade".🤣🤣🤣
This was one of my favorite episodes! Robert has always been a musical genius and a comedian ever since HSPVA.
And this is why we shouldn't be put in boxes...we break the mold!! Period
A footbal.player wrote I Can't Make you Love Me .....blowing my mind ! And the fact that it was a faster song first and then Bruce Hornsby and Bonnie Rait slow the song down and the people.who sang Bad Boys for the show Cops owns Circle House stuidos ...its bananas
Him just casually naming people here there and everywhere is mind blowing 🤯
I am a Jazz head so I was overjoyed to see this show. Robert Glasper " Houston Proud " !!!
Watched this live this morming had to come back and rewatch hubby kept talking during the show ...😂
What???….not Mr.Robert Glasper. How in the world did ya’ll get Robert? Can’t wait to hear this one!
Doubled Booked, Black Radio , Black Radio 2 , Black Radio 3, Everything's Beautiful, Art Science ,F**k Yo Feelings and August Greene are eight of the best projects , ever.
Thank you sharing this interview.
Glasper is a real one.
GREAT EPISODE!! I love it when you guys have producers and musicians on the show because it gives us, who aspire to write music, the information on where to start - like learning to read music. This episode in particular was really instrumental in that. Again, great show! Thank you guys!
Thanks for listening
By the by, I just learned the intro of Tanks “Self Esteem” on the “While You Wait” EP, and the chord progression is dope. There are some passing chords that show up intermittently, but I usually have a harder time finding those chords because I don’t know what they are (I can’t read music - BUT IM COMMITTED TO LEARNING!!).
Usually the bass note is in a weird place.
But there was something that came up in this episode regarding the utilization of space, and listening to the cadence in “Self Esteem” in reference to the chord progression is so simple in essence, but Tank’s delivery dope! “You Never Knew” is actually my favorite track on the EP.
Chord chart will be arriving soon and I’ll be learning to read scores. Thanks again!!
That Luther Vandros doc is going to be interesting ...
I hear his name a lot. I’m not really into jazz but he is everywhere working with everyone. Smart man! 👏🏾
Tank & J. - - Thoroughly enjoyed this episode w/ you guys & Glasper! Too many laughs, amazing stories, & really cool musical insight.
As always: The R&B Money Podcast is more than a podcast . . . It's: A Community, A Masterclass, and An Experience like no other. / Love Y'all!
Love that Glasper said that most times when you record an album, the best version of those songs come *after* the album’s recorded. *So true* . I hear live versions of Beyoncé or Jazmine songs all the time that top the original recording. The things you discover with a live band are just different. Some artists might need to rethink their recording process 🤯
That guy Robert is one of those who really change the game in my opinion as far as what’s real music and what’s not in this generation of music a pioneer for. And I can’t wait to hear what he and Tank do together in the lab together peace
Tank's version of "I Can't Make You Love Me" ... its one of those perfect music moments.
😭😭😭😭 I love how y’all started the episode lmaooo Chris had Robert Glasper fucked up!
R And B Money podcast is a music lover's heaven!! Every ooh ahhhh and myumm yumm yumm❤❤❤
Music lover to the core here. I agree💯
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s super first grade 😩🤣🤣🤣
Robert Glasper has one of the greatest shows on earth! Saw him at City Winery in NYC on my 48th birthday with Derrick Hodge and Chris Daddy Dave. Absolutely insane! Lupe Fiasco and Immortal Technique did a tribute to Phife Dog. Craizee!
I love this man ! He is the culture. He is the epitome of a class act. So talented and he shines !!
🔥🔥🔥 Episode. I love that Robert appreciate a singer that knows restraint and who tell a story. Whitney was the Queen of that, too.
They started out this episode on straight shenanigans I love it lmaoo

Yes, you all need to get Joe on the podcast. Joe is slept on
I Love Robert Glasper, his music is amazing, thanks guys for having him on the Podcast. He's so down to earth, the soundtrack to the Photograph is my favorite. Thank you Robert Glasper for having Luke James on the album, he's also amazing.
I'm really looking forward to hearing Tank collaborate with you.
I would love to be a part of the Grammys ... I have to make a few phone calls. I have a few friends...some real friends, who are not only active in the music business but have won Grammys...not doing BARS but I would love to do that. I'm always looking for something impactful to be a part of. Thanks for that JValentine... I'm about to be on a mission...lol!!❤
