Wil Talk with Artists #68 Jacob Goldsmith

This digital discussion is with artist Jacob Goldsmith.
Born in Bobo-Dioulasso, Haute Volta, now Burkina-Faso, Jacob Goldsmith grew up in the Ivory Coast where he studied auto and Industrial Mechanics before moving to the US in 2003. His passion for art started the night before first grade when his parents gave him his first bag-pack. He poured into his science book and was fascinated by the beauty of nature. He soon after started sketching and growing a vegetable and fruits garden in the family’s home.
Jacob works with photographs, fibers, and modern paintings. His photographic style is both cinematic and impressionistic. His paintings are modern and explore the themes of beauty, love, and nature. As a teenager, Jacob started making his own clothes and now creates collectible art jackets that will make the head of a statue turn.. The sensibility in Jacob’s paintings and photographs caught the eyes of some of the most discerning collectors.
His work has been featured in Coastal Living Magazine, The American Society of Picture Professionals Magazine, The Washingtonian Magazine, British Airways Magazine, and The Washington Post Magazine and Newspaper. Jacob was the residence photographer for the French Ambassador, The Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco, and The Belgian Ambassador. He has captured photographs at The White House and on Capitol Hill in addition to working as the lead photographer for the First Lady of The Ivory Coast during her visit in Washington, D.C.
