7:00, there’s at least one train out there that does have the new announcement, the new announcement is “Gateway North, doors to the left, transfer to other bus and max services by walking 500 feet south.”

I really like the commentary style of this video. I haven't had the chance to see gateway north and the approach in person so its really nice to have footage, and its also somewhat of a historical mark seeing the type 1s serving it. The idea of fully moving red line trains away from the fishhook would save time, but I doubt trimet will ever have the incentive to do that. I also think it would be very hard for trains to climb up over the gateway tracks and back down, then turning sharply to fit into the area between the northern edge of gateway and where the ground drops off downhill to I-84. The bridge could be set back farther but would still somehow have to make a full decent and have a station by gateway north. Another option could be having the eastbound red line trains that would use a station have it supported over I-84 to give more room for a bridge. Again, I don't think this will ever happen, as the track set up right now has as few conflict points as possible, the only downside is it taking longer. There are many more important conflicts, like in downtown and Holladay Street.
Does anyone know what happened 4 years ago tomorrow? On march 14th, 2020, the first episode of TriMet MAX 101 was uploaded. How time passes? Very interesting.

Also having eastbound red line trains use the current platform makes for simple transfers to other trains and buses. This isn't a concern for me with westbound trains because they are all heading basically the direction and if you wanted to transfer to the green line to get on the transit mall, you could just use the many stations between gateway and rose quarter.

10:36 i think keeping the fish hook is alright. The airport-bound red train doesn't cross over other tracks to use it, so it's like a cloverleaf. Your flyover idea is undermined by how the red has to interline with blue and green lines anyway. However I don't remember if the fish hook speed is really that slow (

Would if be ironic if the type one rail stock got another retrofin to last another 10 to 20 year of service?

Why was the fishhook not doubled tracked?

Any idea when Trimet is going to fix the elevators at the max station's?

Only inbound. Outbound trains continue to use the loop, as they don't have to cross in front of any other trains.

This is Trimet's second worst decision ever (the worst is raising fares to absurd levels). This would be better if they had ALL Red Line trains going here, or never did this in the first place. Having to remember which Gateway TC station to use for different directions of the Red Line alone is too much work for riders.

It’s the only way Trimet could prevent a Red Line train from having to cross two railroad tracks to merge/unmerge from the mainline.

I'm an outsider and I understand that the north platform is for westbound Red Line trains 😂 Tbf, someone rushing to Gateway for a westbound train has to beware which platform to use

It isn’t a different station. It’s literally connected to the actual main station. It’s just like 500 feet north.

It's only 5.60 for an all day ticket. Basically the price for a gallon of gas

@@bigvaxmeanie925 Still too expensive. Anything more than $5 is too expensive.
