  • Here is a simple way to play your hardware synthesizer on your MIDI MPE Controller, in this case the ERAE Touch.
    You will need:
A mini jack, MIDI TRS, MIDI din, and power supply.
    Steps:
    1. Power up ERAE
    2. Connect UBS-C to your computer (for sound)
    3. Connect the MIDI TRS adapter provided
    4. Connect it to MIDI din cable
    5. Power up hardware
    6. Connect to MIDI din
    7. Plug jack cable into the output
    8. Plug it into your audio interface
    9. Turn on hardware synth
    10. Start playing.

Tutorials and templates would be a good kickstarter indeed!

Indeed it would! What worries me is that this video (and my comment) is a week old, and there is nothing back from the company. They are literally giving nothing back to their users apart from the hardware. It’s not enough these days. My unit is still gathering dust…

Look this is great but a tutorial on this would be so helpful. I own both these bits of hardware but still have no idea how to set up the ERAE touch to be able to do this. For example, how did you manage to loop the synth line whilst then playing drums over the top? Would be so cool but the instruction manual and tutorials are so bad that I never use the ERAE which is such a shame. I’m sure I’m not alone.

@0:56 he hits that red square at the top, I'm guessing that is "start loop record".. then he plays a melody a couple of times before hitting the green square and that completes and plays the loop.. looks like that to me. I'm getting one of these in a few weeks!

@@markthornemarmaduke well good luck with it! It could be a great product but it’s just a great ideas at the moment. The manual isn’t finished and isn’t very helpful. To actually get it to work is just not easy. And good luck trying to use the sequencer! It’s such a shame. But you can tell not many people are actually using it as there are so few online videos ‘showing it off’.

@@Kompa55_Music dang, that's concerning. I have one on preorder that supposedly ships in a week or two.
I am hoping to at least experiment and make some tutorial videos if I can dig into it deep enough.

@@Kompa55_Music interesting point about the lack of videos online. I'm not sure the company has released that many units yet, think it's only in the hundreds. It's still very very new as you say, give it time, the potential is huge

Is there a setting to send midi out via the 3.5mm adapter? I did not receive the adapter with mine and the adapter that came with my microfreak is not working with the erae.

Can you use erae WITHOUT a computer completely? Does it mean that the power comes from an electrical outlet?

So I bought the Erae Touch. It arrived last week and since then, I am trying to get it to work, but it's just sending normal Midi and no MPE data. It doesn't matter if I am trying it in Cubase, Ableton or Bitwig. Neither the USB or Midi Port is sending MPE data. Working on a Macbook Air M1 and Ventura 13.1. I'd tried it with Pigments, Equator2, Kult and Abyss. My Roli Seaboard Block on the other hand is working fine. And because of there lacking customer service I am more than just frustrated. I opened last week a ticket. Got yesterday one response. I answered immediately and still got no response from them. In there forum I saw and read since last week, from many disappointed and frustrated customers. It's a shame, cause there product has potential, and I would love to play my MPE Soft Synths with it. But sadly I bought a product that does't work like it should. If one of your viewers is thinking to buy from them, they should know, that there on there own. One could also get the impression, that the company is fully aware of this problems (incomplete and defective product) because in Apple Audio-Midi-Setup one can see, that there MPE port is not detected, and they wrote it in there own forum 7 months ago. So it seems to be a MacOs problem and they know of it. And now I am still waiting for a refund response. It feels like fraud to me! Especially 'cause this company will charge you with a fee, for using it, despite the fact, that it doesn't worked!

I use an Erae touch with iMac2017 27" running OSX Ventura 13.1 and I can see in Logic pro in the controller section "Erae touch" and "Erae touch (MPE)" so yea it is detected.

@@nick9486 I can see it too, but it is not working. Look at your MacOs Audio-Midi-Setup. There you can see, that Erae touch (MPE) has no output. Even Embodme had acknowledge this fact in there own forum 7 months ago.

@@HiTekN3RD Honestly I'm new so I discover the unit in the past 3 days :) I report the MPE out works with midi Din to a synthstrom deluge and I can clearly hear it is MPE . Also I have just successfully setup the Erae touch with Arturia VST Jun 6V in standalone mode on imac wth usb cable only in MPE mode. So yeah I can tell both midi and mpe are working and both din and usb are working with an imac, on my unit. Unfortunate I am not using your DAWs in years. I am using mostly hardwares, and just doing a few testing right now but I usually just do hardware. Good luck to setup them but I think it should be working.
